Love the front, like the rear. Was hoping for a little more boldness.
Interior is pretty excellent, they iterated on the best of Explorer, Taurus, etc rather than trying to stretch the busier look of the Focus/Escape/

I like the aggressive/angry look. Makes all other vehicles in the segment look even more boring than ever. Hope Ford worked out the bugs, considering all the tech baubles in it - or else. And too bad the higher HP EB engine option is not available with a manual transmission.
not bad.... but after hearing the news of no more V6, i say 2010-2012 > 2013. not feeling the idea of an all 4 banger line up. it even erks me more that theres no manual available for the 2.5L anymore but hell theres BARELY a manual available at all now. i dont mind the approach to a more fuel efficient car but dont ditch the V6! especially that 3.5L!

How about a nice 2.0L Duratorq diesel (163 hp, 251 lb ft torque) from the Mondeo?
I'm not a fan of design, but add the diesel engine and ... I'll consider it as my next vehicle.

If anyone has any questions on the car, feel free to ask. I spent a lot of time looking it over yesterday.
I think this is a huge upgrade to the old Fusion. I really disagree with Zoran on this one as I've been shattered by American car companies putting out the god awful cars like the one below. I had completely lost faith in all American brands until the Mustang made a critical come back, the Fiesta looked so much better and the Focus became more hot hatch euro blend and now the Fusion is actually attractive. When I saw the updated Fusion at the OKC auto show in 2009 I almost threw my drink at it like an angry drunk at a rock concert. Ford punched me in the **** that day. So the Fusion has a terrible taste in my mouth. Even if you are right and the people want that gaudy truck grill, I feel they are wrong and something in their head needs a little bit of re-wiring. But I am not the buying public, I'm the discerning enthusiast which makes me the super minority. You that love "original" American econo, enjoy what's below.

One of the things that caught my eye yesterday during the unveil, they showed a video explaining the design of the new Fusion, and at one point, showed a Fusion ST sketch. It appeared to have the same grille as the Focus ST grafted on the new body. It could be a very interesting direction for Ford to go with the sport sedan market if the powertrain is right. A small V6 EcoBoost and AWD would make a fantastic performance variant.
I think a 2.0T with a true 6-speed manual and AWD would be a KILLER car. Allow people to build it fully loaded with the manual, instead of only offering the base trim and limited options.

You know, I went to the Chicago show last year and wasn't impressed. No Vertrek concept, and really, not a lot of concepts in general. I actually enjoyed the St. Louis show more. They had fewer cars, but they did have the "Million Dollar Mile" with a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Chicago had a riced out Lambo and Ferrari from some custom company. I want to see all the concepts that don't travel to the other shows. Plus, a road trip might be fun.

Mondeo already failed once in the USA (Ford Contour anyone?). History tends to repeat ... Remember how long Saturn lasted with Opel's cars in the USA? They had to stop importing Astra after only 6 months because they had so many unsold models (and according to many, Astra was the best compact GM ever sold in the USA) and Aura was even a bigger disappointment.
I would rather spend $25,000 on a base Charger than on a Fusion 2.0L EB.
But that's just me.
Just for the record, I really really hope I'm wrong about 2013 Fusion ...

thats a pretty big change.... i dont think I was ready for that
I think more "Euro," or rather, "Global" styling will become much more the norm here in the U.S., especially with Ford and its goal of being a more integrated global company rather than a lose amalgam of continental-centric divisions. Of course, like any other styling theme/ethnicity, it can be executed very well or very badly.
Now, as for the new Fusion, I think it's basically a very nice car if lacking in a touch of the boldness that marks the new Focus or Fiesta. I think Ford lacked a touch of nerve stylistically, opting for a safer, blander, aimed-at-middle-America styling that so typifies this class of cars (Accord, Camry, Passat (now), etc.). Perhaps a bit more bold and distinctive design would better help the Fusion stand out in this vast sea of beige and I would have hoped the success of the Focus, especially the 5-door hatchback-which prevailing wisdom would have deemed the kiss of death in the American market--would have given Ford a bit more courage on this front.
That all said, it still is a very nice looking car and seems to be a good car overall. Hopefully an ST version will make it to the showroom more quickly than has been happening with the Fiesta and Focus STs.
