Good runs Jason. The MPH is there to be in the 12's. What DR's are you running? If they're Nitto's, they have to be really hot to stick. BFG's will hook better at the track, but Nitto's are a better street tire, last longer. If you're still running stock gears you'll have to try to keep the rpm's up when you launch. Remember, your car's no lightweight.
Back in 2000, I had a '98 Cobra I tried to compete in the Mod motor class with, had 3.73 gears and Nitto's, never could get them to hook. Best time was a 13.50. Geared wrong for the 1/4 mile. Should have had 4.10's or 4.30's.

Thanks guys!

Skip, I'm running Mickey Thompson DRs (275/40/17) and it was my first time using them. I was told to heat them up 'real good' by some friends at the track after my first two runs. My last to runs would have netted some better 60ft times, but I bogged one, and missed 1-2 on the other.

Next time out should be Mar. 25th . . . with new chassis/suspension components . . . hope the 'SES' light stays away.

Ok, now we know you have a great hooking tire. Definitely HAVE TO keep the rpm's up, especially if you're still running stock gears. With those tires I would think you could avoid the water, back up to just outside the water box, not in it, put it in first, dump the clutch, spin the tires up to just before the line, line it up, take the rpm's up to around 5 grand and go. A little tire spin won't hurt, just don't have a lot. It's easier on the rearend and axles.

Well . . . since some posts have disappeared and I've been to the track recently I thought I would start all over again, but with a best time in the 1/4.

So . . without further delay . .

New best today at the UMTR race at Edgewater Drag Strip on 4-8-06 . . .

Car 206
R/T - .143
60ft - 1.878
330 - 5.391
1/8 - 8.320
mph - 84.08
1000 - 10.839

1/4 - 12.971
mph -106.06

The two pictures below are from a buddy on my local Mustang Website, his screen name is 'slvr87cpe'!!

This run below was a fun run. Let's see I, 1) Stalled in the burnout box, 2) Red lighted, & 3) Missed my 1-2 shift. So I at least got all the "bad" out of my system the remainder of the day.

Wanted to share a few recent updates/pictures of Mach. I’ve added a some items this early Spring that have really tightened her up. We’ll call these Phase 1 of a total of 3 Phases for Modifications . .

I recently had installed . . (Already have Vogtland Springs)

Welded PAE Subframe Connectors
Welded Steeda Rear Shock Tower Brace
MM Adjustable Lower Control Arms
MM 4-Bolt CC Plates
MM K-Member Brace

These items have really made an improvement of the overall handling of the Mach. Still to come, as part of Phase 1 is a Strut Tower Brace, Bilstein Shock/Struts, and a Panhard Bar.

I also purchased some 17x9 Cobra R replica rims for $40.00 a piece and had some 275/40/17 Mickey Thompson Drag Radials installed.

How much lighter are the 95 Cobra R's...I'm guessing those are your racing wheels?

Yes, those are my drag radial wheels. I'd say they are maybe ~5-7lbs lighter. But being a 17" wheel I get a little more sidewall than with a 18" drag radial.

NICE!!!!

12.971 is amazing (well.. it is to me)

im assuming you have no major engine mods? i find it pretty cool that you can break into 12s with just suspension work.

Thank you, Patrick. I use the Car Domain site as a holding spot for photos (until the TMS gallery is back up and running) and not really for ;public viewing. I think my site is listed under my name (Evil_Capri) and/or grouped with Mercury Capri's.

Good job Jason, can't wait to see it! Are you driving down to Barber's in September??

P.S. That is what my car ran after my SC install (of course I let off at 1100' because of a lean AFR).

Thanks again guys . . .

Patrick - My last Capri has been sold since I purchased the Mach. (And 1986 was the last year for 'Fox' based Capri's. ) I think I have some shots with all the black wheels on her. I'll see about posting some, but I think I may have an older thread with pictures in it.

Whit - Hey man! Yes, I'm driving her down in September for the MCA event. I'll be coming in early Friday. See you soon!
