so I've got a bit of an update, though not a really good one. I've now got a belt squeal when the car is over 2000rpm. I'm thinking it's some antifreeze getting on the belt. The next thing I'm going to try is putting some stop leak in the system. I've had like 4 people tell me to try that, and I guess it couldnt hurt, sooo what the hell? Give it a shot, and hope it works.

I've never been a big fan of the stop-leak type products. The way I see it, that stuff is going to goop up everywhere in your cooling system, not just where you want it. I would look long and hard to find that leak before using a band-aid like that.

the whole system will be flushed out when I fix it permanently. This is just to give me some time. It seems to have worked for now, but I'm not holding my breath.

also, would it do me any good to get a lower temp. thermostat? If I've got to take all that off, I might as well buy a new thermostat while I'm working on it?

Put a new one, but don't go lower than 180* or it will cause more issues, since those ECMs are a little *****y and won't go to closed loop operation if the engine doesn't reach normal operating temp. in certain amount of time.

Well, the leak seems to have stopped [crosses fingers]. I filled it yesterday when I put in the stopleak, and it's still at the same level after a day of driving, plus the 20 minutes idling last night. I gotta figure out how to get the antifreeze out of the crevice it's in, because I dont want it to settle in there and stain it/burn it/w.e. else.

it would need to be a pretty long one, but I've thought about that. I'm trying to figure out a way to get some shop cloths down there while being able to make sure I can get them all back out, lol. I'll take a pic tomorrow, maybe my shop vac will work, idk.

I just bought quite a few supplies from AutoDetailingSolutions for sophia, few things to clean her up and hold her over until the winter when I can buy a buffer and pads, and finally get rid of the swirls, hazing, and holograms all over her [shudders]

Just wash it out with a water hose, and whats left will evaporate as soon as you drive it and the motor gets hot.

that's my main thought, if the antifreeze mix is in there w/o hurting anything, water wont hurt, it's between the bottom of the intake manifold and the top of the motor, shouldnt be anything to mess up

That's the first thing I thought too. But it did come from Nathan, and we all know that's the only way he'll ever get a girl pregnant.

Pretty much a mute point now but don't you need a tuner so you can change the fan settings?
