Big Dave's Sonic Blue Mustang Thread

Well, it brings me great joy to make this post. I finally have something I've been wanting for years and years, and I'm enjoying every minute of it!

flight out, second leg to Texas

leg room proved to be a pretty big issue, funny, didn't think I'd be saying that about that particular mode of transportation for the day.

Crappy cell pic of the Mustang before we set off

second of 5 rainbows we saw on the way back, rain was off and on, not really really heavy anywhere (which was good, because the wipers suck), just some real bad fog the last 1.5 hours of the trip.

crossing the Mississippi River

Raptor sighting!

Home safe!

Trip Wrap Up:
I love the car. There was a bit of a frustrating mix up over the taxes on the car, they were supposed to be covered in the price I paid, so I'm a bit ticked about that. Car drives fantastic, and sounds incredible (vids to come). I ended up averaging 26mpg the trip back, which is outstanding; the v6 is supposed to get 27 hwy. The trip home is 1070 miles, and I probably drove about 800 of that. We left at 445 to get to the airport, first flight at 545, transfer over in charlotte, then to dallas. Got there about 1020 eastern, left the dealership and gassed up at 1 eastern, then drove straight through. Got my first compliment in Alabama, we stopped for dinner, came out, and a guy was looking at my car, and goes, dude, I looove the color, haha. I kept on driving till midway through Alabama, then let dad drive to atlanta, then I took over for 1.5 hours, then he drove the next 1.5 hours home. We got back around 615 this morning.

Issues: I gotta buy some floormats, as well as the A/C register for the dash on the drivers side, the defrost bit. I've also gotta see if I can get the electrical panel to stay on the door, it juts out just a bit. All of that is simple easy stuff. There's also a hairline crack in the middle of the back of the spoiler, which I wont worry about.

The problem I have is that half way back, I got a service engine soon light. I'm going to have my mechanic check it out, and everything else, to see what he says. The car ran perfect, so I'm guessing a simple sensor.

And I have to buy tires, but I knew about that going in.

All in all, I'm very happy with this thing. Dad was like a kid in the candy store when I let him drive it, haha. He loves the sound of the exhaust. Says it's like a racecar, so much power, you pretty well just have to idle down the street. Let the mods begin!

First!

You should add the mod list. Look back in a year and see how much it has changed.

to see how much it's changerd...more like, to see what I havent done, haha

Well mod list for now includes:

shorty antenna
good tires
chin spoiler
sequentials
stereo stuff
floormats
maybe HID's, but only to match both headlights and fogs

seats somewhere down the line. I'll either find some cobra seats or I'll just get some race seats, like arin's CR1's

I'm going to have to relearn part of driving. It scrapes on teh top of speed bumps. I guess I need to go over them at an angle?

You're screwed. There's no angle you can take that won't make it scrape. There's gonna be a point where you always have all the wheels around the bump and none on it, so there's no way not to scrape. You could put some skid plates on though

You're scraping the exhaust, more likely than not. I would suggest looking into some new rubber hangers so they haven't been stretched out for 6 years. That might help give you just enough room to not scrape.

The only ones I have to go across regularly are at the grocery store, so I'm just going to go around the store from now on, haha.

I'll get some good pics once I get a chance to clean it up. It's been raining here for a week, and still getting more in the next couple days.

You asked about my sequentials and I said they were the plug-in kind. And I said you'll have to watch out for bumps even more when you get a chin spoiler.

I don't think you'll really need to worry about the front end unless you lower it a LOT. As for the floor mats, go to Corral and look for the Ford Racing ones. They look awesome, and they are like 38 bucks shipped. Way better than 100+ for ones with a huge Mustang logo.

Maybe I'll check those out. My floor mats are all ruined with salt.

My GT is only lowered .75", and I have to watch out for curbs with the chin spoiler. Can't imagine what twice that would be.

I already watch out for the curbs, mot of the time I back in anyway, which is a major biatch with practically nothing for mirrors, hahahaha!

You have a link for those mats, Peter?

Price has been upped to 42 bucks shipped, but still trumps the other mats by at least 60 bucks.
