Thinking about getting CDC chin spoiler?
I have pics from checking the fit of the CDC chin spoiler on my car. The car will go in for painting at the end of next week. Scroll down to the last 2 pics.

It should look great with the spoiler and the hood scoop
Are you going to paint the spoiler black or the same color as the car

I took 05YellowGT's chin and photochopped it onto my Red Fire. It did not match up perfectly, so I had to bend the ends a little. But I think it still came out ok. I am not sure if I represented how low it will hang correctly.

I know after seeing all these pics with the chin spoiler I cant wait to get mine in. I told the local paint shop that I wanted to stay a step ahead of all the other 05stangs around here (as if there are many) but I like the looks I get from my friends and all when they see the changes I have done to it. I also will be getting my louvers the same time and will have them on soon
will post pics as soon as shes done

Yeah, but it doesn't look as good hanging on your front bumper.

Can you explain this pease?
1. A brand new Ford Mustang GT bumper from the dealer costs $200.00 --I think it takes a little more platic to make this bumper....
2. The chin spoiler that is on the latest Mach 1 model costs anywhere from $65-75. Is it made out of paper?

2. The answer for this is that they have made and sold a lot more of the '99-'04 chin spoilers than they have with the '05 chin spoiler. They have most likely covered all their initial costs of the mold, ect.. But at $65 it still costs more than some lawn furniture and it's far less plastic. Another reason is that the '05 chin spoiler is new, look at the prices of VCRs, DVD players, ect... The price of a new DVD player when they first hit the market was $400-$500. Now you can get one for $50. In a few years, I am sure the price of a chin spoiler for a S197 Mustang will be much cheaper.
I hope this answered your questions.
Also, I never claimed to "know everything." I know a lot of things, just not everything.

1. You can't compare the two, one the Mustang GT bumper is a product by Ford. Ford is a much larger company than CDC or Steeda or whoever. To put this in perspective, it's the same reason that Walmart can uncut prices of a local store, when you sell a lot more items, you can afford to make a lower profit per item just because of the volume of products you are selling.

You know it, we all know it...CDC and others aren't charging these outrageous costs to cover what are minimal initial costs. In fact....they're doing it to milk the '05 Mustang craze for every penny while they can: It's called 'timing the market'.

Sorry dude...no sale. There's no way any 'volume' argument can justify the outrageous prices being sought by the manufacturers.

jack frost,
If you hate chins so much, why do you spend all your time reading chin threads? You already know it is about a topic you don't like. So it isn't like you will miss something you deem important. Seems like you might have a secret desire for one.
If I don't like something, I don't go near it.

No, that's still simple supply and demand. Since you know what CDC's initial costs are, why don't you let the rest of us know.

Surfing only for something you like is a crippled internet experience.
And, BTW, even if I did like chin spoilers on the '05...I would still maintain that CDC and others are exploiting the market to the max.
Within 2 years, that CDC spoiler or it's equivalent will be down to 60 bucks...like for previous gen late model Mustangs as somebody else mentioned on this thread.

I know ACTUAL CDC's initial costs exactly as well as you do.

to cover what are minimal initial costs.
I don't need to know the exact cost to make a cup of starbucks coffee to understand that, at an average price of ~ $1.25 per cup, starbucks' margins are on the order of 90+%.
Oh, and the reference to 'cow catcher'...behold the 'high' performance inspiration behind the dominating chin spoiler:
