Thinking about getting CDC chin spoiler?

That looks good. All the shots I have seen are close up so it's hard to tell how they really look. I assume that is the Classic model?
Thanks Mike

Yes , it is the classic model. I wanted one that wasn't any lower than the stock facia , so I wouldn't hit parking stops and such ...

I am confused. Doesn't the classic chin just "bolt on" to the existing facia? If so, then it would be lower than the stock facia, correct?

thanks for the pics steve so all in all pretty easy install i take it?
Rene' , I got it directly from CDC and I don't remember what it cost or the shipping. I ordered it on the web site , so you should be able to check there and see. The paint shop hasn't charged me yet for it , since I still have the side scoops in there , so I don't know what they're going to charge me. It's the same shop that did my hood and that was only 450$ with fiberglass work , so I'm hoping for only half that or less ...
Perry , yes it was extremely easy to install. I did it my self in about 15 minutes. There's only 4 phillips head screws to be removed , the instructions say to remove the tires to make it easier. However , I put a phillips head bit in a socket on a small wrench and that fit between the facia and the wheel without removing them. The spoiler pops right on to the facia and is a good tight fit. The top of it then rests on the lip of the facia and has 3M tape to connect it there. Pull a little of the backing off before you pop it on and leave it hanging out , then you call pull the tape out after its on. Put the 4 screws back , put two push that are included through the bottom into the facia and you're done ...

I think it looks real good. I've added the CDC classic chin spoiler to my future mods list, and seeing your pics just makes me glad I did. It's not too low, but still makes the car look lower in the front and gives it a more aggressive stance.

Considering these chin spoilers have no functional purpose whatsoever, and are strictly cosmetic 'look at me' items...why shouldn't they be made out of cheap rubbermaid?
How much could the mold possibly cost? With a handful of suppliers, and considering there will soon be a million new gen Mustangs out there and supposing 10% of owners tack on one of these chin spoilerss...I think the cost of R&D, marketing and manufacturing is pretty well covered. CDC won't be hurting for cash.
Anyway, were I to suffer a stroke that degraded my judgement making me want to put one of these cow catchers on my GT, I'd rather pay $20 for a lesser durable plastic and replace it every 2 or 3 years for the life of the car than have to pay those outrageous prices.

Look at all the non-functional crap put on this mustang. One of the cow-catchers on the front. A non-function hood-scoop; I don't know who they're fooling with that ducktail...it's not gonna help at all; and all those side scoops do nothing but catch air.
I wonder where that idiot Shelby is now a days?

stopped by a local shop today and asked them if they could give me an estimate on painting the chin spoiler they said $200 does that seem right or a little high? Also I asked them about painting 2 side louvers and they told me $75.
On a side note if I do get the chin spoiler which do you guys think would look best on my stang having it painted the same color as the car or a flat black like a boss style?

here is a pic to help?
Paint it yourself, that is what I am going to do. Black is easy. Buy a spray paint product called automotive trim paint. It is flexible so won't crack and I have painted black trim on my 88 Mustang and it lasts along time and if you chip it or it fades it only costs $5 to repaint it.

Hey Steve I just ordered the classic chin spoiler for my stang today (thanks to your pics) and I ordered directly from CDC and was wanting to know how long it took to get it in?
The reason I ask is the local paint shop wants to paint the spoiler and the 2 louvers I also ordered at the same time

It didn't take long , I think  I ordered it on a Monday or a Tuesday and had it the next Monday. The fit is excellant and very easy to install ... Enjoy yours
I took 05YellowGT's chin and photochopped it onto my Red Fire. It did not match up perfectly, so I had to bend the ends a little. But I think it still came out ok. I am not sure if I represented how low it will hang correctly.

In my rather terse rundown of the costs...I DID mention R&D costs.
Trust me, I'm sure it costs no more than 20 bucks for CDC to stamp out each of those chin spoilers. They are laughing all the way to the bank.
For me, any accessory I add to my car has to be attractive AND *functional*. I'd rather add $260 towards something thats more tangible and will last more than one application...say like a set of wheels.
Really, the chin spoiler is about as ridiculous as when I see a ricer putting on a rear spoiler on a front wheel drive car.

And a rear spoiler is about just as pointless on a rear wheel drive car. Do you know how fast you have to be going in order for a rear spoiler to actually do anything. God forbid anyone to want an attractive car.
Also, what is your background in that makes you think you know anything about plastics and how much they should cost? I have a chemical engineering degree and have worked in an injected molding factory, so I have a little background on the subject.

Ok "Mr. I know everthing" and I have education in chemical engineering.
Can you explain this pease?
1. A brand new Ford Mustang GT bumper from the dealer costs $200.00 --I think it takes a little more platic to make this bumper....
2. The chin spoiler that is on the latest Mach 1 model costs anywhere from $65-75. Is it made out of paper?
Now I am not putting the these companies down for what they are charging. Its their product and they can charge $1,000 if they wish. I think what a couple of people have tried to say is they its overpriced for the cost to produce it. I think its way overpriced as well in comparison with the chin spoilers on the Mach 1's.
My thinking is without having a education chemicla engineering is they they are overpriced because they just came out just like everything else. Its your choice to pay the big bucks now or wait a couple of years.
Look forward to you explanation.
David
P.S. The CD exapmle was a very poor choice. CD's cost $15 only because they are marked up from the record companies. IMO they should cost more $$.
