Thinking about getting CDC chin spoiler?

I really like the one on the torch red. Would like to see one from different angles though.
Anybody seen this?
Scott.

Got the classic and it is first rate. Factory quality and it goes on with two existing screws and two plugs in existing holes and 3M tape. No regrets.

Do you have some pictures that show it from multiple angles? Thank you.
I've got the classic , and it's in the paint shop right now. It was supposed to be painted yesterday and hopefully
it'll get installed tomorrow. If so I'll take some pictures this weekend and post them on Monday

I was thinking about the classic CDC chin, or the Shindoa.
Price is steering me to Shindoa. Their's cost about $260 and is already painted black. The CDC is $240 (I think) but still needs to be painted.
I don't know?

$240 or $260 for a cow catcher
Man, it's amazing the markup these guys are making on these pieces of recycled plastic.
I can buy a whole patio furniture set made out the same material for $39 bucks.
CDC and others must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Good one.But seriously, the margins on these things must be on the order of 95%.
How much could it cost to pour cheap rubber maid plastic into a mold?
I'm assuming those prices listed above MUST include installation...No?
heck, with prices like that...if I really wanted to put one of these tasteless, unfunctional 'chin spoilers' on my car I'd rather just staple all the tupperware in my kitchen cabinets to the front lip of my GT.
Well, two plastics can look similar and feel similar and have completely different properties. There are some plastics that are very expensive. You also have to take into consideration the mold used to make them, that gets factored into the price and since there are a lot more patio furniture produced than '05 Mustang chin spoilers, the cost of the mold can be distributed over more items. And its not cheap rubber maid plastic by the way.
Considering these chin spoilers have no functional purpose whatsoever, and are strictly cosmetic 'look at me' items...why shouldn't they be made out of cheap rubbermaid?
How much could the mold possibly cost? With a handful of suppliers, and considering there will soon be a million new gen Mustangs out there and supposing 10% of owners tack on one of these chin spoilerss...I think the cost of R&D, marketing and manufacturing is pretty well covered. CDC won't be hurting for cash.
Anyway, were I to suffer a stroke that degraded my judgement making me want to put one of these cow catchers on my GT, I'd rather pay $20 for a lesser durable plastic and replace it every 2 or 3 years for the life of the car than have to pay those outrageous prices.

Well considering where its located on the car, using a cheap plastic, the spoiler will look like crap in about two weeks. The rubbermaid container sitting in front of me is polypropylene, the CDC spoilers are made of polyurethane.
And molds, depending on size, pressures needed, and durability are usually thousands of dollars.

CDC: "Modifications will increase air flow to after cooler or radiator "
Also, your not just paying for material. Your paying for the guy's time who developed it. Your paying for the molds to make it. Your paying for the electricity to run their facilities. And yes, your paying for someone somewhere to make money. If you couldn't make money at it no one would do it.
Also, I guess you want to rip off all the "cow-catchers" from the classic mustangs?

According to CDC their aggressive chin spoiler IS functional. It does re-route air to you CAI system. I guess that is why front fresca modification is required.

Oh please. Straight from the marketing deptartment.
The benefit is soooo marginal that nobody else bothers with a chin spoiler.
Face it, it's a cosemtic add on...nothing else.

In my rather terse rundown of the costs...I DID mention R&D costs.
Trust me, I'm sure it costs no more than 20 bucks for CDC to stamp out each of those chin spoilers. They are laughing all the way to the bank.
For me, any accessory I add to my car has to be attractive AND *functional*. I'd rather add $260 towards something thats more tangible and will last more than one application...say like a set of wheels.
Really, the chin spoiler is about as ridiculous as when I see a ricer putting on a rear spoiler on a front wheel drive car.
How come every time someone has some question about chin spoilers Jack Frost has to come in and let everyone know *AGAIN* his feelings on these "cowcatchers"???
Jack, your opinion has been noted, let others who do not share your taste discuss this without having to defend our tastes to you. I for one, like them, therefore I read this thread... give it up.
Anyway... pics anyone? I am looking to see what a gloss black would look like on a black GT. I think the flat black would look a little strange with no other flat areas on the car... any ideas?

ive seen the cost of some of those injection molding machines. for single parts it costs over 350k, of course the spoiler would be expensive if CDC has to pay off that or rent one from a company who is paying that off.
