The Auto Transmission string is getting full and some of the content has gone way off topic to include IRS. Ford needs to know that a few people out there, quite a few actually, would love to see the GT500 offered with an Auto Tranny option.

The soon-to-be introduced SVT Sport Trac Adrenalin will have a 390 hp Supercharged 4.6 in it with a newly designed 6-Sp. Auto. The GT500 should be offered with something similar. With Fords' - and it's Premier Auto Group affiliates (Volvo, Jag, Aston Martin, et al) parts bin to choose from - this shouldn't be a problem.

As for a straight-line 6-Sp. Auto or a 6-Sp. Auto with Manushift, keep in mind these would be a lot more viable for actual production versus an SMG-type paddle shift which would likely be very expensive.

So vote carefully, somone at Ford/SVT just might be watching. And 6 Sp. lovers - please keep an open mind. Your tranny's are a definate and us Autoshift guys are just looking for a little "optional" support.

What is your problem with having a 6-sp manual as the standard and then an optional automatic (regardless of the type)?

Options are always nice...what one person perceives as being too expensive or unnecesary (e.g. SMG style tranny), another person may view it as a must-have item.

Does it make the standard price of the car go up if Ford offers big$ options like SMG or IRS?

I agree totally, I think a few people have to keep an open mind about this. There's no way the car should come with only one transmission choice. Look at the thousands of variations everyone's come up with in the GT and V6 forums. It'd be pretty boring if there was only 1 tranny to go around - and alot less Mustangs sold if the only choice were manual. So come on, vote for the addition of an auto tranny to the option list. This isn't a pissin contest about macho manuals, it's about choice!

I didn't say physically impaired. I said physical reasons for not driving a stick (knee problems in my case).

I wouldn't do an auto because one can controll the body roll better by feathering a clutch than you can with an auto... it's safer in my opinion.

reflexs are not has fast they were younger that whats GT500 but who's needs a auto. :nono:

I think you guys are missing the point of my question...I am not interested in knowing why you think a manual is better or not.

But after noticing that (at the time of this writing) 13 people voted to have a manual tranny ONLY, with no other options... I was just looking for someone to explain why they have a problem with Ford offering different tranny options. I understand there are some die hard manual tranny guys (self included), but why would you care if someone else opted to pay extra $$$ for an auto?

I am all for options...heck, I don't care if Ford offers a towing package. So long as it doesn't effect the price of the base price.
