what they should have done on the S197
1. Hips
2. Working guages
3. Less easily scuffing interior pieces
4. Headlights w/o plastic piece covering the headlight bulb, like this:
5.Suspension with less wheel-hop and smoother ride.

Well, you said you didn't want to go the filler-repaint approach, but from what I've seen, that's the only option you have. Depending on what else is holding the spoiler on (though I think it's just bolts) if it comes off clean, you could maybe put some rubber nubs into the holes.

Or maybe you could use the holes to bolt a keg to your trunk?

3: Haven't had a problem with this. The only complaint I've had is about the stitched dash being a pain to keep clean without glossing it.

4. I agree, would look very retro...but the way our lights are recessed so far back, it would cause some ugly drag. Plus you'd be cleaning bugs out of the cracks all the time. With the lense, you just wipe'em off. Besides, if you keep the lense clean, it's almost as good.

I've been thinking about this one. What if we had a system like the 1970 Chevelles had where a couple of flaps opened at the back of the hood, giving a cowl induction type effect? If there was a way to fit it into the cowl panel, we wouldn't even have to cut up the hood to make it work.

Headlight splitters.... show me a picture of a rendering or something. I was thinking about this before but couldn't think of anything good looking.

My picks:
1) integrated antenna into windshield or rear window
2) full ipod integration
3) steering wheel audio controls (possibly coming in '08?)
4) fogless GT mesh grill
5) less expensive HIDs (cheaper than $800)
6) 17 x 10s for the rear
9) overhead console to mount radar detector, sunglasses, etc
10) Aluminum hood with ram air or cowl induction

Yeah but its the holes in the hood that make it look kick *** IMO Imagine this hood in aluminum

A set of Anthricite Bullitts, DD 19's for the rear and 18's for the front. I haven't been able to find a matched set, maybe I just need to look a little harder.

Interesting.

Any pics of this on a Chevelle?

How about a interior dome light. The two little map lights are ok for the front but when trying to strap in the kid in the back seat at night you can not see a thing.

Sorry, no direct link. Scroll down about half-way. You'll see-em. (Page search for splitters might work, too.)

What'd'ya need belts for the kid for? Ain't the G forces enough? Besides, it's never too early to learn those ever-so-important survival skills. Don't worry, yer kid'll figure it out. A few sweeps around the cockpit and he'll be holding on like passengers in an Albanian taxi cab...

Besides, there's always the trunk.

That'd be funny if it wasn't for the fact that everyday I pass some waste of flesh parent who doesn't care enough about their kid and does exactly that.

(Whew - all in one breath)

The splitters in that link are the 3dCarbon ones that aren't framed.

As far as the splitters, it'd be even better if they were framed and integrated with or on top of a headlight blackout panel. What I hope to be able to do is hide the headlamp a little bit, giving it the look of a 70 Boss.

Nah, don't try to copy the Boss. Rumor has it, Ford is pushing out a Boss edition in '08. Wouldn't want to play like a ricer and try to fake it!

Ditto on the kid thing, btw. I wish irresponsible parenting was a capital offense. My folks never let me ride around without a seatbelt, and you can't tell me they were "too busy" to make sure of it! In addition to the fine, the cop should take the kid.

It's not just a Boss that had that style, I was just using that for reference. And a Mustang looking like a Boss, an American Muscle Car Icon, is the farthest thing from rice I can think of.

Just thought of another item.

GT500 style splitter that fits the stock GT bumper. The GT 500 splitter can be modified to fit but the sides do not fit the wheel openings correctly.

The GT500 front end IMO is probably one of the nicest looking Mustangs ever made. Its in the top 3, at least! The body stuff is fun to work with. Let me see what I can mock up.
