If anyone is considering the FRPP GTA's, check out Nino Sports: http://www.ninosport.com/Supreme-GT-...-GT-GT500?sc=2
before the holiday is over. They not only have the best price daily, but they are giving an additional 5% off for the Memorial Day holiday. They are also in stock. I just ordered a set for my 05 based on comments here about the drone with Stingers and my own research. Oh, AND free shipping. What's not to like?

Well I swapped out my Stingers for GTAs yesterday. Got the GTAs from Ninosport but without the 5% deal.

The GTAs sound pretty good but not nearly as good as the Stingers at start-up. The drone is gone! They are quiet at crusing speed, almost too quiet. Not really loving them atm but they also don't annoy the crap out of me around town like the Stingers. The GTAs don't have that deep rumble that I love either. Grrr. Not sure which ones I'm going to keep at this point.

Like most things in life, everything's has a trade-off. I recommend you drive it around with the GTA's some more...give it a week at least. At the end of a week, you will most probably have gone through a full "regular" cycle of your driving habits and will be able to make a better decision.

Sage advice. I will do just that. Thanks.

There is no question..after hearing Tom's vids its the Stingers or nothing atall. Ill just have to save up for resonators, those U-clamps and dynamat to combat the drone.

I'm pretty sure people on the "MF other site" have solved this matter with resonators upstream of the axlebacks. In fact, I may do it myself at some point.....but I'm really getting comfortable with the resonance.....as I pointed out above, its a function of throttle position/engine load, so I can accelerate at a very easy pace and keep it at a minimum, and if I need to accelerate faster, I downshift...

How is the drone on the highway? Is it drone city at any RPM after 2000 in 5th or is it just in that 1800-2000 zone in any gear? In other words is a long highway trip unbearable because it drones constantly in 5th after a certain RPM or MPH?

The drone is only in the 1550 - 1950 rpm range (with 3.55s), which is only noticeable in 5th because the other gears are so much shorter, that you run by that range super quick, so it doesn't have time to drone in 1, 2, 3, and even 3th, unless you hang in 4rth at those rpm. In 5th, it's only present because 5th is so much taller (0.68 I believe), and it's gone by 60 mph/1975 rpm. Seriously, you learn to manage it by either accelerating very slowly in 5th at this rpm range, or downshift to 4th if you need to accelerate more aggressively.

The reason it was no issue to jacostang on his long trip, is that he was likely cruising above 60 mph...probably averaged 70-75, with likely jaunts into 3 digit territory...right, dude?

Ford4ever: do you have 3.55s? Or 3.31s?

You love the drone? Or the sound in general? Having a manual I can avoid the drone zone unless it's all drone in 5th after a certain MPH/RPM

Dude, READ MY POST/RESPONSE ABOVE!

The drone IS ONLY between 1550 TO 1950 RPM

I montitor this everytime I drive!!. In a 3.55 equipped 5Spd this equates to 52-66 mph, and in a 3.31 equipped 5spd equates to 56-70 mph...I have a copy of a spreadsheet 94tbird made that allows us to look at all those gearing/rpm/speed details.

The sound is so good on the Stingers, that when I'm 10 minutes from home on my afternoon commute, I turn off the a/c, lower the windows (this is in Houston's 95-100ยบ weather, mind you), just so I can hear it unadultered by sound insulation...the same way everybody else hears it on the outside!

Marc, thats really funny that I do the same thing going home from work, no AC just roll doen the windows and enjoy my tunes..............in this case this is engine tune not audio (radio) tune

I rarely use the radio because I just so love to listen to our engine, especially with my Stingers!

I was just surprised to see that there was a post before mine and then I realized how close our post times were. I posted and then was running out the door so I didn't see yours.

I have an '06 so I am assuming I have 3:55s.

Thanks for the info, I think it has convinced me to go with the Stingers. I was looking at the GTA's but I know I would be disappointed with "slightly louder than stock" and the Pypes mid-muffler seems more mechanical or raspy-loud as compared to Stingers. I think I would more afraid of the Stingers if I had an Automatic.
