FAQ: Computer Tuning the 05+ Mustang
This weekend I downloaded rev. 26 from the Diablosport site (C&L model). Feels a lot better now. I was only using my Xcal2 because I preferred the tunes I got from Brenspeed over the standard Diablo tunes. I tried the Predator last weekend after downloading rev. 24 and the car would not start so I basically gave up on the Predator. By chance, I tried their site again this weekend and saw they had another revision. I think they have a winner with the new revision. Does anyone know where to go to see a list of what enhancments the latest revisions have?
This is my first post on this forum (which I enjoyed reading last year before I ordered my 2006 GT). I have owned many Fords (50, 55, 58, 68 Mustang, 69 Mach I) and always enjoyed doing as much work on them as I could. I am looking to make the leap from the days when electronics had little to do with performance but now seem to control everything (no more setting points with a matchbook cover). I have some long range plans for my GT but want to start with induction and then exhaust. Since the only dumb question is the one not asked I will ask some basic ones to clear up some of the questions I have about adding some hp to the car. I am looking at adding a Steeda CAI unit. The on line instructions say the computer must be re-flashed. Will disconnecting the battery allow the on board computer to recalibrate the engine or do I have to buy the SCT Xcalibrator for the re-flash? I am running 89 octane and don't have a problem switching to 93 - just want to make sure I set things up the right way w/o too much outside help. Be gentle....

You are right, however if you think you're going to find any Ford dealership service dept that's going to do that for you...well, I think it's highly unlikely, unless you have a buddy who's a service tech that actually knows what he's doing.

CAI is on with a bamachips tune (93) What a nice feeling as the engine can really breathe through the cats and that flat spot as you accelerate is now filled with some power. Just like it was meant to be......
Help with used Diablo Predator
I just purchased a used Diablo Predator for my 05 GT. Is there anything special I need to do before plugging it in and using it? For example, will the previous owners stock download need to be erased or will my cars burn over it ? Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Ok, he must have "unmarried" it because I went into the performance option and it said it made a backup of my stock tune.
Where do you get the modified tunes? Do I need to purchase them or can I download them for free? I have a C&L CAI ready to install but I need to have the tune before doing so.
Thanks again, I am a newbie to tuning, Richard

That's a good start.
Diablo used to have free basic downloads on their website, but I haven't looked there since last year.

Thanks, I'll look there. I also bought Saleen U/D pulleys, 4.10 gears, and just installed the Borla stingers. I just got the tuner Saturday and I'm getting ready to install the mods. I'm anxious to get started, but cautious!!!
Help
Ok, can anyone tell me which tune is best for a stock 05 GT with the C&L CAI as the only mod? I upgraded my Predator firmware to the latest revision today. I installed the 87 octane tune then the Performance tune that came with the tuner but I keep getting the check engine light for a lean condition.
Thanks in advance, Rich

Disconnect battery when using tune
Sorry if this has been answered already. I am running a w/ JLT intake and 92 octane torque tune from Bamachips. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect, does the computer retain the torque tube or does it somehow revert back to stock.
Thanks
Thanks
