More info -

Mine is "CL7140 - 111852" - This one can hold up to 5 custom tunes and can be sent to the chipmaster Dealer to be created -

the unit can be returned to Diablosport for free revs. (you have to pay shipping) or get download from the net or a local dealer - but the Original Backup must be re-installed - prior to shipping the programmer to the co.

The one i have came pre-loaded with three pre-determined tunes - Factory HP Tune / 87 OCT Tune / DiableSport Performance - choose one of these and then take "Options" / "Modify Parameters" / and choose options under each catagory of :Axle, Fuel, Idle Speed, Revs, Shifts, Spark, Tires, OBD II, Shift Points, fan & traction.....

Any mods to be done outside those my Predator is prepared for - must be done by a dealer and on a dyno w/ air fuel metering - these would be such mods as changing throttle bodies, adding blowers, changing pulleys, gears and even engine exhaust components - (no big deal with just an axle-back though) -

There is a "power puck" perf. module that can offer multi - tune power and "switch on the fly" & MAF Interface Adapter in order to use the factory MAF Sensor for blower or high HP applications - that go along w/ Predator Appl.

sorry for being so long-winded & hope this answers your questions....

I was leaning toward the C & L CAI with a sct 2 tuner. I like that they pre-load programs designed for their CAI. I have heard some good and bad on the predator, but nothing but good stuff. But I am interested in that both Steeda (see recent article in Mustang Enthusiast) and JMS chips (see article in last months MMFF? both use most of the intake hose and only really add a filter and shroud to keep the heat out? \

Any thoughts on that?

Thanks

The filter & shroud are important for heat shield - yes. The intake hose and mass air housing is primarily a matter of choice and if one wants to increase the size of the airflow hose along with improving the looks under the hood - i show my Stang a lot and looks must therefore also factor in -

but my primary reasons were to get a larger hose ( to reduce on heating up and better air flow), to shield heat from the filter & to help increase the amount of air coming in from the fenderwell - this is what the shroud does - ( and i have noticed the coloration of the shroud is same as initial installation - unlike the discoloration in the stock intake hose that happened a week after i started driving the Mustang - something is not making sense about that - but i have yet to validate why i think this is so - chemical reaction in the plastic due to heat - maybe)

Question on tuning.

Around here, we have 91, 89 & 87 octane fuel. In a substantial number of stores, you can get 87 & 89 for the same priceb but there is a definite premium to be paid for 89. This can be as much as 20-30 cents per gallon.

Can you use the 87 octane performance tune and bump the timing a couple of degrees to maximize the engine to run on 89 octane?

Yes, most certainly, but be wary of engine knock. I myself don't know how much timing advance you can safely use with 89 octane. I think a couple of factors are altitude, humidity and temperature...

I am waiting for someone like Bama chips do a custom tune with the BBK 62mm TB and their CAI set up.

Increase in HP by 27 with out a tune. I can only imagine with a sct2 tune, could bump it up a few more maybe 35 hp total?

I have a Steeda version for their cold air intake. I have loaded the 93 oct setting and I have noticed the car is completely different in driving and performance (mainly for the better). However I have noticed that at WOT above 4000 it begins to detonate. As a result I have not been able to drive like I like. I am in Cali where there is only 91 oct, but even with an octane booster I have this issue. Anyone have thoughts on this. Unfortunatly I do not have 87, 93 tunes, because Steedas programed over those I guess. Any Help out there on where to get a better program download, or even a tuner in SO CAL? Thanks

Are you using an XCal or Predator? If you have an X2, I just installed Doug's BamaChips tune for CA 91 gas... and it's awesome... all the way to 6250rpm (my shift point).

Yeah, contact Diablo and have them get you tune for 91 octane gas. Tell them you are in CA and hopefully they will know that our gas is rated differant than most other states.

Not a good idea to run 91 octane gas with a 93 octane tune. Seems like commen sense to me. :nono:

Does anyone know if the Predator for the 2005 gt will work on a 2006 gt? I would ask Diablosport, but their number is not on the website.

Question?????????

What adjustments if any should be made when running 92 octane fuel on a 91 octane tune?

Using the Diablosport Predator of course!

There is probably an upgrade on their website for it.

just did an X-cal with JLT II today--baseline pulls averaged 262.3 HP to rear wheels---torque averaged 279.1--both on 3 pulls---after JLT intake and tune---281.1 HP and 300.4 Torque to rear wheels--not too spectacular but decent--running 93 Octane

Anyone know if there's a way to monitor A/F Ratio using the Predator's data logging functions? I'd like to check if I'm running rich/lean without having to go to a dyno. I was going to wait for the dyno tune until after I did a full exhaust (headers, O/R H-pipe) but want to make sure I'm running somewhere "in the ballpark"...

Right now I have the Performance Tune modified 2k-4k WOT rich +1 and 4k-7k rich +2 to go with my K&N Aircharger (no HC trap) and my Flowmasters.

Thanks

EDIT: DiabloSport replied (if anyone else wants this info), paraphrased of course:

Basically, monitoring the Long & Short Fuel Trim should give the answer I need. They said it should stay between +/-2... If it goes negative, the car is running rich; positive, the car is running lean.

when it comes to tuning your 2005 / 2006 mustang gt's leave it to the people who know how to tune.....
I mean call Don at Modular Madness in sarasota florida.Don tuned my 2005 Procharged Saleen to 529 rwhp / 479 rwtq. These new cars are really tricky to tune.I had someone work on my car before I met Don at Modular Madness and they screwed up my car...almost blew up my motor.Don stepped in and spent alot of time fixing the first shops headache and go me some real safe pump gas horsepower. So make sure your shop really knows what they are doing before they touch your car.Jim Summers at Procharger hooked me up with my system and referred me to Modular Madness to tune it.

I purchased a SCT2 Tuner, took my 05 Mustang to a local shop, got the 4.10 gears in and a C&L tube and an "unknown" 9 inch CAI. I had no tune so the guy made one. I got the following

Before tune, and mods 257.40 torque 259.96
After tune and mods 286.25 torque 278.59

Sounds good right? wrong, after I took the car home, coming to a stop light was like stopping a train, problem, idle was running at 1100, and the transmission was like it was still trying to move the car.

Took it back, this time I got a tune from the guys I bought the SCT from, same problem the idle was high.

Long story short, they had to go in an make some idle and transmission changes to calm it down, but now, my HP is in the 270s? The way I see it, I should be in the high 280's I upgraded to 93 octane, got a 9 inch CIA and have replaced the mufflers with Flowmasters, plus I was running a little on the low side at the start of this anyway, I was down about 10 HP out of the gate. So I don't think picking up 30 plus is expecting too much

Anybody know of a tuner or of a file, that gets the tune right from the start, minus some fuel adjustments, this is getting old, I want my car up as high as I can get the HP to go but I want it to be a pleasure to drive as well

Oh and Don I have sent an email to Bama about getting a tune file from them, hope to hear something back next week.

Update, got a tune from Doug at Bamachips...

It was the difference of night and day!! No more engine lights, the car runs much better, at a stoplight, can't even feel the engine running, but touch the gas pedal, and holy crap I'm gone.

Bottomline, its a great tune and Doug at Bamachips got it done right.

I just bought my SCT X-Cal2 tuner w/3 tunes and have one question. I installed the K&N CAI and this wasn't listed in the choices of MAFs. So I chose the C&L CAI and went to drive my car and as soon as I punched the gas the car hesitated and coughed and then I received a "Fail Safe Engine Mode" message in the LCD. So I went back and reset it to "Stock Airbox" and it runs fine now. My question is should their be any other adjustments I should do to get better performance? Like add anything to the WOT setting? It was recommended to add 5% to the WOT but I was not told which way to add (Leaner/Richer)? Any advise is greately appreciated.

BTW, I am currently running her on the 87 Octane tune.
