I have MAC Long Tubes and an off-road Prochamber. I am going to guess the reason you will need to have some pipe welded in is because MAC has built this with the theory it will be used with their headers. They sell either catless legs or cats that will fit in the prochamber and then bolt directly to their header flanges. Try this link it might show it better than I can explain it. I don't know how the headers connection is completed on your headers but, there is a slip joint w/ clamp on the prochamber that could be used on that end if you didn't want the permanant weld. http://www.coolblueperformance.com/index.a...PROD&ProdID=596

They're not the only source out there

Thanks for the explanation Ben, it's what I figured knowing that the Mac's are 3/4 length. It looked pretty close though. I'd imagine it's a fairly short couple of pieces.

The JBA's collectors are just slip on, with a band clamp. I'd imagine you'd get 2 short pieces of 2 1/2" pipe, weld them to the Pro Chamber, then use the clamp on the collector still making it a bolt-on for removal at a later date.

I've got a line on a local muffler shop that's going to handle the install at a great price anyway, so this looks the most promising in avoiding that crop duster sound.

BTW, if you haven't heard this clip, it's a great example of what we're talking about. Listen to the beggining, and you hear the "crop-duster" effect.

I might be OK with the prochamber as it is. I have the hi-flow cats on the collectors of my LTs, and I might be able to slip it right in there in lieu of the X-pipe.

And I didn't realize RPMOutlet stopped carrying them...

Exactly... but I'm not sure what I should try next. Something similar in design to the Magnaflows, but louder.
According to Lido at Alternative Auto the sound can be improved by adding resonators in the h or x pipe. The source of the "bad" sound is the loss of a tail pipe after the mufflers as in previous Mustangs.

I will probably have a set of Magnaflows for sale in the near future... as soon as I find something louder.

What exactly did he mean by "resonators in the h or x pipe"? Something like the MAC Prochamber? Or is there something else?

They have a writeup here showing what they did. I've always been intrigued by what this would sound like in person.

Thanks for the link, Kevin. It says it was a custom built project... I wonder if they ever produced it for retail?

Send Lidio an email or call him to see where he got the resonators. I am sure he can help you. I am still reading all these threads about longtubes. no cats. h-pipes, x-pipes, pro-chambers and so on. I want to try the Mac O/R prochamber with my Borla's. But think even that will be un-godly loud for a daily driver.

Thanks, Jose. That sounds good in those vids!!

How does it sound to you when you are driving at part throttle in the mid rpms? Any of the trumpeting? We need to figure out to get some LMs on there to test out too!

havent really heard my car from the outside so cant really give an answer. but compare to the hpipe, yeah its alot better sounding. about the LM's, im also curious how it would sound with this setup. wouldnt want you to get the prochamber and have the same problem. if anyone out there with LM's, just let me know.

Man Jose, that sure sounds awesome!! I am still leaning to the O/R Prochamber with my Borla's. We both know the Borla's drone. Does the Prochamber just make that worse?
