M5/3.55
C&L Racer CAI
Bamachips 93 Race Tune
FRPP Borla Stingers

NFI what my RWHP/RWTQ numbers are.....but judging from how my car felt stock vs another similarly equipped '07 GT (M5/3.55s), I'd say its on the strong side of the normal distribution curve, so based on what I've seen posted so far with the same CAI and a Bamachips 92 tune, I conservatively figure I'm around 298 RWHP / 319 RWTQ.

Question: Doug's tunes are so good...am I likely to see an improvement (w/o danger of detonation) by getting a custom dyno tune by G-Force in Friendswood/Pearland for example??

I don't know about 298rwhp cause I got dynoed with gears, cmdp's,udp's,intake, and custom dynotune. I got 293rwhp/313rwtq. I am expecting 300rwhp on a less humid, cooler day. I could be wrong about not getting 298 with just intake/tune, but we will just have to see when you get it to the dyno.

You might be right, of course, but check out aremann2's dynosheet (page 6 of the thread, towards the bottom)...with the same C&L intake I have, and the same bamachips 93 tune (although mine's the race, not the performance, tune).......

As I said there is a normal distribution curve for the baselines of each car, and there are differences between tunes. aremann2 peaked at 299.9 rwhp, but realistically the usable rwhp was pretty flat at what looks like 295 rwhp (the tickmarks on the graph are 10 rwhp/rwtq each, and its halfway between the last tick and the 300 rwhp/rwtq line)...so I may have been a little optimistic about 298 rwhp, but you have proof in front of you of a solid, usable 295 rwhp with the same mods I have. Keep in mind you're running a tune from another tuner, and also a different CAI and a different exhaust.

As you correctly point out, we'll see when I det it dynoed....and I just found out about a dyno in my neighborhood.....

I would say your expectations are set a little high just from what I have seen from the majority of these S197s Dynos with similar modifications. My estimate would be 288-290 HP & 309-310 TQ. (See how close I am when you get it dynoed )

I just got mine on Doug's DynoJET Saturday.

5sp Man/3.55 Gears
C & L Street CAI
91 Race Tune (BamaChips)
Flowmaster A/T Exhaust

Numbers = 284HP / 305TQ

The racer intake shouldn't make an additional 10-12 HP over the street nor will the 91 to 93 octane.

Another comparison is TacoBill's car.
K&N CAI
91 Race Tune (BamaChips)
Stingers
O/R H-Pipe
If my memory serves me, he was steady at about 295 although he did spike over 300, but his graph was pretty jagged. (Might want to verify that with Bill )

EDIT: I took a look at the Dyno sheet of aremann2's you referenced and I will say that is THE highest I have seen an S197 put down with the mods he had listed.
My opinions on that dyno run
a)That puppy was built to run
b)All the mods were not listed (ex O/R H-Pipe, etc)
c)That the Dyno was a Mustang Dyno, which I have heard "always" reads higher numbers.
JUST my opinion though

Thanks for the reality check. 290 rwhp sounds about right...at a 15% driveline loss that would put me/us at ~340 fwhp...or 21 fwhp better than a Shelby!

Well I got my car back from Steeda yesterday after having them install the MagnaCharger , and all I can say is

We got 430.13 RWHP and 394.3 RWTQ , but notice how the torque is almost a flat line. The second set of results is from the last time Steeda dyno'd my car , it had the CAI , CMPD , UD pulleys and the axle back exhaust at the time and we got 304.4 RWHP and 320.1 RWTQ. The CMPD and UD pulleys were removed for the supercharger , so now the only other mods are the Steeda CAI , FRPP X-Pipe and Steeda axal back exhaust ...

Hello Daryl,

Here's what I did: had a local tuner-shop with a dynojet do a "tweak" of Doug's tune, to see if we could improve on it (match it to the car's specific peculiarities). So there's 2 runs, before and after:

These are ALL Correction Factor SAE numbers, and all retreived from the WinPEP7 files (the tabulated data was exported from WinPEP7 to a text file, and I then used Excel functions to extract and convert the text to numbers so I could run a delta column):
Before Dyno: Max HP 282.59 / Max Tq 279.91
After Tweak Dyno: Max HP 288.30 / Max Tq 301.51

The Delta's are as follows:

Min Increase 0.31 hp / 0.52 ftlbs
Max Increase 19.77 hp / 23.96 ftlbs
Average Increase 3200-6300 RPM: 12.40 hp / 14.25 ftlbs
Average Increase 3600-5500 RPM: 17.23 hp / 19.95 ftlbs

What was happening was that the timing was too aggressive in the 93R tune (with a rich mixture to try to cool the combustion, I guess), so the knock sensors detected detonation and the PCM pulled timing...so we just backed timing off some, and leaned out the mix from <12 to just under 13. The result was that I gained back all that area under the curve...so the peak numbers don't tell the whole story.

Here are the graph exported as a jpg file, and the tables exported as a txt file. (Note the guy in the car on the 2nd run didn't "get on it" until >3000 rpm...)

EDIT: SOOO I guess you were right on @ 288!!

Congrats , nice numbers ... They're a little better than mine that I show in my post above from when I was NA. The lt's must do it , I had the CMDP's , pulleys and axial back exhaust and got 304.4 RWHP and 320.1 RWTQ. Sam at Steeda knows what he's doing ...

06 gt standard.
I unfortunently don't have a stock baseline.
- WMS intake with 95mm MAF housing and sealed ram air box
- Steeda UD pulleys
- FRPP ceramic shorty headers
- FRPP x-pipe
- Flowmaster mufflers
- Sct excalibrator 2 with brenspeed tune then dyno tuned
- spydershaft alum d/s
- whole shwack of suspension stuff
- and the list goes on.
First off I want to say that my numbers are WAY higher than anyone else with similar mods. I'm guessing the dyno is out. Anyway I got 364/385 sae corrected on a dynojet. The first run shown was with 80mm MAF no tune. The 338rwhp was with 95mm MAF and a crap frpp tune (11.7 a/f) The 364rwhp was with a brenspeed tune with the a/f and timing etc tweeqed on the dyno.
