Calling ALL with Modified Mustangs

I don't guess you have been following the boards, but I'm the one who switched to JLT's intake and dynoed 342 rwtq and 310 rwhp that everyone calls BS on. This is the first time I modded my mustang and actually had it dynoed at a shop I looked up on the internet and everyone seems to believe they lied to me. Kinda of takes the fun out of it

I believe you since I see 290HP on a Mustang Dyno all the time and that would equate to about 310 on a dyno jet.

I got 3 dyno pulls in today with A/F metering at Livernois Motorsports. I believe it was a Dyno Jet Chassis Dyno. I have a 2006 Mustang GT with 5-spd manual. My only performance modification is JLT II CAI and XCal2 tunes from Evolution Performance and Bamachips (both 93 octane). Here are the results:
Pull 1 - Bamachips 93 Torque Tune (approx 6200 RPM cutoff)
Max Power = 285.4 rwhp
Max Torque = 302.7 rwtq
Air/Fuel ~ 13.4 - 14.2 (little lean for my liking)
Pull 2 - Bamachips 93 Torque Tune (approx 6500 RPM cutoff, only 3 minutes later)
Max Power = 281.4 rwhp
Max Torque = 300.4 rwtq
Air/Fuel ~ 13.5 - 14.3 (even more lean)
Pull 3 - Evolution Performance 93 Octane Tune (approx 6500 RPM cutoff, 5 minutes later)
Max Power = 281.0 rwhp
Max Torque = 299.8 rwtq
Air/Fuel ~ 12.9 - 13.9 (almost right on, one spike at 3500RPM)
Comments: I didn't have a baseline run, so I don't know exactly how much gains from JLT II. I was a little disappointed it was not closer to 290HP, but with no other mods, I can't really complain. I will be contacting Doug at Bamachips about adjustments for A/F ratio. Until then, I'll run the safer Evolution tune. Performance wise, I would say the two are very similar. I'm sure the engine was running hotter the last 2 pulls.

OK,
My dyno numbers are very conservative or should I say realistic vs. inflated .....
MRT Cold air intake
MRT AeroTurbine Exhaust
JBA Shorty Headers (ceramic coated)
Livernois ported and polished heads with stock cams
SCT Custom dyno tune with 93 octane
Mustang Dyno RWHP 286 RWTQ 295.....
Thats roughly 345 and 355 at the flywheel....
But I'll put my 286 against anyone who's claiming 300+ with a CAI and tune anyday

Here is what the pony ran with the stock engine and on 7 #'s of boost, Diablosport tuning...
[attachmentid=48232][attachmentid=48233]
We recently had a shortblock put together for the car and should have new dyno numbers in the next couple of weeks.
Upgrades as follow: (will post dyno sheets once we get back on the dyno)
new 04 romeo iron block
Manley pistons 6 cc dish
Manley h beam rods
Cobra crank
Cometic head gaskets
arp main studs
arp head studs
New high flow oil pump with treated gears and cobra pickup tube
spec aluminum flywheel
spec stage 2+ clutch
Moroso oil pan
Tuning will be with SCT

Those are different looking curves for sure.

BadSTSpony,
What are you doing for heads and cams???
How much power are you looking for and why cast iron?
The Aluminum block should be able to take the engine up through 600HP with the right bearings.
Weak point of the engine is the rotating assembly and it sounds like you are taking care of that....

Using the stock heads and cams, they looked fine and were machined a bit before going back on. We are looking (hoping) for 600-700 to the rear wheels. The aluminum block probably would still be in there if someone hadn't missed 4th gear and ended up in 2nd instead, at WOT. Doing that sent a rod through the wall of the block. And nope...it wasn't me!
With cast iron...it will be able to withstand more abuse than the aluminum. Just trying to avoid going through another engine if at all possible.

Yes I hear you.. I have a 4.6 Aluminum block for sale if you are interested.... But I guess you already have the cast iron.... Hopefully you've already relocated the battery because your adding 60+ over the front tires with that pig... Good luck and looking forward to seeing your numbers!

New numbers on the forged bottom end....We ended up with 503 rwhp and 514 ft./lbs torque, on 12 lbs. of boost. Running Garrett T3/4 hybrid turbos. Stock heads/cams. Looking at doing a few more mods to sneak some more ponies out of it. That was on a Mustang dyno...waiting for the shop to email me the dyno sheet. I don't have a scanner for the one I have.

So the average stock Mustang GT HP/TQ is about 280? modded 300? and SC 425? These numbers are great because the Stangs are light (3489 lbs. for manual, 3518 lbs. automatic).
I was thinking about buying a new 05/06 GT in January, but the local dealers in AZ wanted $31,000 for an Automatic at the time. Ended up buying a new 05 GTO for $29,000. HP/TQ is good but it weights 3740 lbs. with these mods: JBA header and catted midpipe, GHL catback exhaust, K&N Cold Air Intake. Get it tuned tomorrow and expect to see 360-370 HP, 365-375 TQ, I hope this is not wishful thinking.
My next project God willing is to buy a stock 05/06 Mustang GT and install the Roush 402IR 500 HP/TQ 8 Stack-Fuel-Injected engine in it or a later model GT if the Roush 402 can't be installed in the newer GT's, although I do like the look of the new GT's. The new Shelby GT 500's look good also but it is a shame both the coupe and convertible weigh 180 to 300 lbs. more than my Goat.
Great forum. Go Ford and GM.
