Best HID kit?

I'm not sure I want to get one of these setups just yet, but I have been looking at a few. Seems like the price has come down to a fairly reasonable level. Maybe for a Christmas present to myself

I have an '05 GT with a GT500 front (and rear) clip. So, I have GT500 headlamps. I guess I would opt for the GT500 kit. I'm guessing that the ballast is the same as for the GT and mounts in the same place as it would for a normal GT. But, if anybody has a similar front end on their GT and has put one of these kits in, please let me know your experience.

Thanks.

I had a HIDguy.net kit on my 06. It was OK. Just a few weeks ago, I bought a DDM Tuning kit for my Mach, and it is great and noticeably less price than the HIDguy kit. The DDM kit has lifetime warranty too.

How hard was the install?

Stangmods and AmericanMuscle both show kits for the same price, $280. They may be the same kit.

Do some searches on various sites for those kits......... I believe you'll find some not so favorable reviews.

Thank for the heads up Tom

I sure don't want to spend $300 for something that doesn't work well. I'll keep looking.

Rony, what brand do you have?

And, how tricky was the install?
Thanks.

Got mine from www.VVME.com. Cheap price, work great. Install is easy, but the install instructions suck...............

I bought it from a seller named HID Systems, $68 shipped. Plug and play. The only thing is I need to figure out how to connect a relay so the high beams work

Has anybody tried using ballasts and bulbs from Ford?

I'm sure that would be expensive, but maybe KC can cut a deal?

I personally think the silver shield could've been executed better. It looks silly IMO

I am considering the HIDguy kits. My silverstars are already starting to dim and my stog foglight bulbs are going out too. I thinking about adding the 5K lights for my headlights and the 3K (yellow) for my fogs. I have never been a fan of that really blue light or the extremly white light. I think 5K is good because it is not too much glare but alot more light than the silverstars. And the yellow light is awesome in the fog, mist, rain, and dust storms we get here.

Joseph I've got the HID guy kits for both headlights and fogs in the 8k. Check out my pictures. The kit was easy to install and between the two of them I only spend about 250.

I used a set of VVME's on my Crown Vic and was not impressed with the fit/finish of the components.

The OEM HID kit is way too expensive. What's a good middle ground?

I just installed the HID Guy 5k's and I thought they looked too blue. I sent them back, and they tested them to be 5k. Here's what they told me:
-Their HID's tend to have more color than other kits
-from their experience, the shape of the mustang's reflectors tend to show more blue than other cars
The bulbs are on their way back to me and they said that its possible that their higher power source they use to test the bulbs might burn in the true 5K color better. It's also possible that I had the bulbs oriented the wrong way. Apparently it makes a difference, so the flipped the mountings 180 deg and I'll see what they look like when I get them back. Anyway, here's a couple pics of them installed before I sent them back:

You can definitely see how much brighter they are than silverstars
