06 stock T-Body porting how to
What up guys, if you are thinking of buying an aftermarket TB you might try this first. The aftermarket ones I understang offer almost 0 gain on a mild modded stang, so with this you can decide if you want to smooth out the way the stocker flows or buy a new one.....I felt almost 0 gain, but then again I am not making 500 hp.

OK, on the oops.. The metal is not as thick as I thought, I should have looked closer before I started and would have seen it. The first side I did is the one I messed up, but the left side I did good. I did a temp fix on it by putting hi temp RTV on the outside to cover the hole and made sure non was on the inside and let it dry before driving.
Driving impression: Little-no gain, but fun to do. Maybe some help on the top end. Zero affect on driveability, and no CEL after 500 miles. This could be the S197 first free mod!

The last tb I ported was a 80mm BBK on my 2001 Silverado (came out awsome, BTW). It had a ton of meat to port so I was going off the way I ported that one not realizing the stock stang one was not a meaty.

Do you mean GM instead of A/M? If so they do not run a twin tb any more, they run a large single hole. My factory 2001 silverado was a 78mm or 76mm. The 80mm and even a 90mm for high performance LSX are popular.
Some people enjoy projects like this regardless if the provide additional HP gain or not. Personally, I appreciate him posting his project and being willing to give it a shot and posting his feelings afterwards. It helps allow someone else to decide whether or not they want to try it themselves.
I'm all for fun DIY projects as much as the next gearhead, but nothing good can come from porting the throttle body. If you mess up, you can cause more problems in the long-run especially with these new drive-by-wire systems. I wouldn't even recommend porting the throttle body on a pre-05 Mustang/Ford. Even cleaning it using the wrong type of cleaner can result in unusual idle or driveability conditions.
Redrocket06,
You could also use some JB Weld to patch that. Let it set up and then sand it smooth with the rest of the throttle body. If the aluminum is clean, that is pretty much a permanent patch.
My dad patched a hole in the oil pan on our van while out in the woods on a dear hunting trip with the stuff. When he sold the van 10 years later, it STILL had that JB Weld patch on the pan and it still didn't leak.

Why do you feel the need to throw your .02 in all the time and pee in people's Wheaties?
