HARD TOP VS VERT
Convertibles look nice, makes me jealous to see one with the top down, a man driving it looking so relaxed! But then I see his wife in the passenger seat and how she is fighting the wind in her hair and realize hardtops are the way to go!
I love them both. Beautiful cars both of them. I like the vert as you say for the summer. It brings good memories of being young on horse back, in a full run. The wind blowing through my hair. The sun and fresh air on my face. It has been the best part of this car to evoke those same feelings. If I had the money I would have both. But for now the vert is great.
[attachmentid=18815][attachmentid=18816]I can agree that the Coupe captures the retro lok the best.
I am old enough to have been around for the '64 1/2 introduction and my son, now 30 has his 16th birthday present - a '65 6 cly. coupe.
However it was time to buy a toy and the 'Vrt won hands down
You can't believe how quiet it is, and I intend to drive summers only for fun.
Wife calls it "my midlife crisis"
I call it 'bout time!

The way I see the two cars is that a coupe will always be closed, and you'll always have only windows to smell the air and feel the wind breeze. Why can't anybody just notice that, you enjoy the fastback look only a few seconds before you get into the car, but afterwards, it is how you feel inside it, free or a close roof upon your head? Anyway, if you enjoy the slavory, you can be a slave with a push of a button... A convertible it is.
Good for you KJ!
Midlife Crisis car should be everything you ever wanted.
For me it's a Midlife Crisis car as well, and it wouldn't fit the bill with a hard top. Sure I like the look of the hard tops, but I have to have the wind in my face.
In IL there aren't a lot of beautiful days each year, so when they come ...... who can sit inside of a closed car????
Heres the funny thing, traded in the everyday car for this, so unless I scrape together a couple thousand for a winter car, will have to drive my vert in the snow. I guess I'll see what I think then!
As for noise ..... with the top up it is not very noisy. And how often would I drive it without Eagles, Queen or Foreigner playing soooo loud that I can't hear a thing?
Also, there is quite a bit of insulation in the roof.
VERTS ROCK!
(Though I have to admit, I'm starting to have Sonic Blue GT coupe envy!
