Just wondering how many prefer the look of the hardtop over the vert or vice versa. I generally like the hardtops for looks but the more Mustang verts I see I am beginning to like the verts better.

Same here. I ordered the hard top. The vert is obviously great for the summer but IMO verts always end up giving you more road noise when they are up and leak down the road. Also I just think the hard tops look meaner. My wife wanted the vert. I also figured having the hard top would keep her from wanting to drive it

I'm having the same dilema. I really want a vert. I have a coupe on order. My wife and I both like the looks of the fastback/coupe, but know the fun factor is greater with a vert. This will not be an everyday driver, rather it will be a trip taker and a weekend cruiser. What to do, what to do!

I think this body style feeds too much off of the fastback look for it to look right as a convertible. It looks great with the top down but with the top up I think it ruins the look of the '05

I think the vert does look good, but for an everyday driver, I'm getting the coupe.

Definitely the hardtop looks better to me. The convertible doesn't look bad to me, but it loses some of its appeal as the roof line changes with the vert.

If I was stinking rich and the supplies weren't so limited, I'd have a GT Vert and a GT500 hardtop! But, working for the man limits me to only one, so its a hardtop GT for me

definately hardtop. You lose the fastback look when the top is up on the vert.

Like a lot of people have said, the vert just doesn't have the fastback look. I was convinced the Coupe was the only way to go......until I saw a vert in a showroom with the top down! Since I've already got a Coupe on order, I'll stick with it and talk my g/f into getting a vert. I'm working on her!

Because of Midwest weather, I choose the hard top coupe. Like the fastback look to it.

Convert is nice too though..........either way you cant go wrong.

I don't like the boot on the vert. The one on my other car is better. Either way, I got a vert for really nice days.

I think the hardtop looks much more distinctive. The roofline and rear window really adds to the character of the car IMHO. The vert needs a "hip" or something to break up that huge long line from front to back.

But, a vert is more about the driving experience than how it looks. I have owned two convertibles (being in SoCal), and it is a completely different experience behind the wheel.

I'm more performance minded, so I stick with the coupe for body rigidity, lower weight, better handling, etc.

It's also cheaper!

Verts are kind of fun for getting chicks at the beach, I guess. Just ain't my thang, baby! B)

i had an 02 vert before i purchased the new 05. I did not like the convertible at all. Yes it was nice during the summer, but it stinked during the winter, car washes, highway and high speed driving. I'm sure they have made some technological changes to the new top on the 05 which would be a good thing, but coming from a bad experience of highway driving and the car shaking, water seeping into the car during a car wash, (both machine and do-it-urself washes), and often I would have frost or a lil snow on the inside of the top because of winter, i just dont know if i would buy a convertible again

Hardtop. Looks better and is much much lower priced. And besides, wouldn't get much use out of it here in Chicago.

I've never really liked convertibles. I don't know why, especially living in southern Cal. I think the 05 looks great with the top down but not so sure I like the roofline with it up, but that goes for almost any convertible car I've seen.

If they were the same price, I'd still go with the hard top, to me the fast back look is part of why the car is so appealing in the first place.

Maybe the leaking and the frost/snow were a problem specific to your 2002 Convertible.....I ordered my 2002 GT Convertible and got it in May 2002. I have never had any problems with leaks during washing (home & car wash), rain, nor have I had any frost/snow inside during the winter, and I live in NY, so we get our fair share of rain and snow (during the winter months).

I realize depending on where you live would play some form of a role chosing which model to get. I live in Ft Lauderdale where there is no snow or bad winters. In general I think you are always better off with the hardtop for many reasons. I like most bought the coupe and the thought of a vert was not even a consideration but I was curious to see peoples opinions on just what they thought about the looks of the coupe VS vert. It looks like the coupe by a long shot.................
