The FRPP filter is the same overall size as the "820" normal filter. I have always run the 820 filter, but had heard that some folks use the 500. I'd never seen a comparison to the 500 filter before, but now that I have seen it, I will continue to run the 820 for sure; or the FRPP better yet.
And yeah they do require a little more oil . . . I guess that explains why my 4.6 always takes a little more then the expected 6 quarts.

Hey SGwick, I came across a product which may help your over temp issues. I am considering using it as well and I thought I'd share. Red Line has a lot f die hard fans, one of my old BMW club driving instructors swore by them. Red Line claims up to 30F cooler engine, which would be huge at the track. http://www.jegs.com/i/Red-Line-Oil/816/80204/10002/-1

Have you run straight water vs a coolant mix? Water has higher specific heat (it's early, is that right? More heat absorbing capability). Believe some guys up here run just water for hot months for track purposes

Yep, most tracks will want you to run straight water in case something happens and you spill all over the track, it wont cause everyone else to loose control. I think Water Wetter is allowed as well.

What are some suggestions for the best combination street/track tires? I'm contemplating switching away from slicks to a streetable track tire that I can leave on to drive to and from track if I decide not to buy a trailer.

Also these Kumhos have great reviews so far and are on my short list once the S04 are done

And if ultimate street tire grip is what you're after, and can stomach a $300 tire Potenza RE71R is one of the best options out there

Since I was originally looking at things on this page
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/types/....jsp?perf=STRT
$300 wouldn't be an issue since I'm looking for something as close as I can get to slicks without getting too crazy on price. $400 each Pilot Sport Cup 2's??? Might be pushing it a little bit. I also don't know what size I'd get for the factory wheels or if I would have to move on to another wheel. I have SVE Drift 18x10's that I use with the racing slicks now but hard to find the right sizing there as well.

Nice - I don't have any knowledge on that oil, aware of any testing with it? Just swapped mine last night too to some fresh M1 5w50 for Saturday's track day!

Gonna have to wait till the weekend till I find out. Not sure about test data on the oil (only what I've read from their website)

Kind of lucky turn of events (minus the recovery time for my back and neck). My 2014 Black GT was rear ended and I was able to work a deal to get this car instead of waiting for mine to be fixed.
