Dish soap on a car??? It's a good thing you're using a high quality wax after that!
John.

Yeah makes you do a double take - the reason you use the Dawn when you do a FULL treatment is that it STRIPS off any residual wax or the like that is already on the car - so then when you claybar and apply the polish, you are applying it directly to a clean, surface of paint. You ONLY use the Dawn when you want to get right down to the paint and start from scratch.

BTW - yes it is expensive - but great results - and check this out. Went to Orlando with an out of town buddy - drive back at night - BUGS all smashed on the front bumper. I actually had to let the car sit for a DAY like that.

The next day in the AFTERNOON, when to the pressure wash car wash up the street - figured, oh well - the paint is going to be marred up a bit with those desicated bugs on there for over 30 hours straight (on a BLACK car) - can;t have the car 100% perfect forever... resolved myself to the outcome....

Washed the car.... and you CANNOT tell the bugs were ever there. Right there, the Zaino's justified its price tag for me....

Dave, OK, going to zainobrothers.com right now. That sold me. I hate those freakin Love Bugs. It's ironic that they call them Love Bugs, because I HATE them!

Personally I think its probably all the same crap. Remember when they had that colored wax some years back that supposedly removed scratches. What a joke that was! I am sure the Zaino's is a great product but the way cars are clear coated today most of the products out should easily accomodate the finishes without any problems and look as good as Zaino's. I used Meguires spray wax and it seemed to work fine. I would give Zaino's a try just from all the hype here. The sad part is no matter how **** you are about keeping your car spotless it all goes out the window when the dings, dents and scrapes start appearing after time.

Don't forget...Zaino doesn't advertise or sell in stores....
That can be a reason why people don't use it..not because its not good, but because they don't even know it exists.

Until a mustang person told me about it, I had no idea.
I've spread the word to my other buddies, they too have switched from Meguires to Zaino...
They've seen the results, how long it takes, how long it lasts etc.

Zaino is not a fad or internet hype. They have been around for years and have always been one of the favorites with serious car show participants. I have tried many products and some have been great, this is not intended to slam any of those. But nothing I have used is easier or longer lasting than Zaino. For my Mustangs, nothing else touches that horse hide! If you prefer something else, great, use that instead.

B) If you read their site on prep use DAWN ONLY before doing a detail job. It ensure you get all the crud off. Several detail web sites also recommend DAWN due to it's chemical content and ability to remove old wax, road film, bug guts and grim. But everyone of these sites tell you not to use it for regular washes; only when you're going to do a complete detail.
Zaino gives a wet look with little work, last better than others I've used. They aslo just came out with a new spray detailer I ordered to see how it compares to Meguiars ... no I don't own any stock, wish I did, just my 0.02.

Shadow, those cars look great all cleaned up together! Hey, first weekend of May I might be getting together w/ a couple of TMS guys around Lauderdale. Want to ride the Alley if things work out?

sounds like a good idea 05GT, we def. need to hook up with some members.
Also I dont know if you have tried that NXT that Meguiars makes but like I said IMO it works pretty good you can see the shine in my 65. I also use NXTs spray that takes off contaminants

I'm going to have to try that stuff. I'm always hesitant on trying new car products, usually stick to the tried and true. I'll definately PM you if I get the final details.

sounds good.
Another good thing about the Meguiars NXT is that its only like 13-14 bucks and 5.00 for the NXT spray

Thats odd, I've owned most colors of cars, never had bug damage.

I forget what state IA is the abbreviation for... Iowa? But anyhow, I don't think they have love bugs there, if they do, I can guarantee the aren't as bad as in Florida. One thing's for sure, if you've never had bug damage, you don't live in Florida. Our state bird is the Mosquito, and the Love Bug is known as a road hazzard.

agrees....the love bug once squashed on your hood and front bumper if left unattended for a length of time can ruin your paint. In Florida you can drive through clouds of these things

I like to try everything John just to see what they have to offer ,and always ended up going back to liquid glass ,but now it looks like meguiars has a good product to offer as well and I still got to try zaino to see how good it is .Here's a picture of my s-10 from last year (12 years old at the time ) it goe's summer and winter and with such wild seasonal changes up here (-40 to +40 in 6 months) you get to find out what a good and ok wax is .

Clouds... that's so true. The first time that happened to me I thought I was driving into the Twilight Zone. My first time with love bugs down here.
