Dawn and water huh?? Nice. How big of a spray bottle?

 

I have been hearing a lot about newspaper. And I trust you all, but doesn't it get ink all over the place? If not the window, at least your hands. And are you spraying the car first with Windex (or whatever it may be) and then wiping it off with newspaper, or are you just wiping the glass with dry newspaper?

 

Newsprint (b&w) works great - used to use it on the Audi all the time, even on the tints, with great results. I used it with windex or rain-x glass cleaner (don't really like the stuff, but DO love Rain-x). In fact, I've used Rain-x on all the cars I've ever detailed and everyone always asks me about what I used because it's so fantastic.

I used to spray with windex, then wipe dry w/ the Black and White print (don't use paper towels), as Rondosa said. I haven't used it on my new stang since I've gotten the windows tinted. I'm a little leary of using anything on them because I don't want that purple hue to show up. I'm thinking of trying the invisi-glass or whatever it's called.

I'm sure newsprint does great on tint too. I think it's the ink from the print that gives it the shine. Dunno. Give it a shot. See what you think. It has always worked miracles by my book.

As for the newpaper thing, not only did my nephew prove that it was not that great but I also saw a show that tested products on cleaning windows. They talked about newsprint and the guy said that was an old wives tale. He said the best way to clean windows was to use the dawn detergent and water then use a squeegee to remove the water. Any small streaks, if any were there, would easily be removed using your clean hands. I tried this and what a difference it makes. I never use windex or any other products on the market regarding window/glass cleaners.

 

Ya, just to be clear, windex on the outside, and the rain-x "glass cleaner" on the inside (since it was safe for tints whereas the windex i wasn't sure). however, after everything was all cleaned, I would THEN apply original rain-x to the outside of the windshield (only needed to do the other windows once every couple of months).

Anything with ammonia will damage your tint.

 

I can vouch for newsprint working well. However, it tends to disintegrate and leave lint all over your dash, etc. I like the microfibers for the interior.

 

Yes for the micro fiber towel... Works great

 

just make sure that whatever you use says tint safe or something like that. the tint safe prevents the purple hue and works great. I used it when I had an integra with 20%..no problem.

 

What kind of a squeegee are you using?
