Got my 1983-85 Dual Snorkel set-up yesterday and I started playing around with it today. The hard part would be to get the tubes into the fenderwell, but they are too long anyway since my front fascia is different from a 1985 Mustang. I could shorten them and still mount them, but as long as the flexible tubes suck air from the fenderwells it will still be cooler than air from right over the engine, so I don't think I'll use the tubes that go into the fenderwell at all.

On CarCraft.com, they hooked up an air temperature probe and air going into the carb was 20 degrees cooler when using this set-up versus just an open air cleaner. That's a big difference!

Everything is in pretty good shape for being 21-23 years old (even though everything has to be cleaned up and/or painted). I did order new flexible tubes on eBay. The one was ripped at the end, so the new ones will look a lot better.

The hard tubes that come out of the air cleaner are in good shape. I removed the vacuum set-up out of the tubes that directed warm air from the headers during start up. I'll just have to braze up the holes.

Dang Tom, that engine looks sweet! And I bet it sounds pretty healthy too!

Bet it's nice to install whatever you want and not worry about emissions.

SCT is due in tomorrow!
I ran my gas down to '19 Miles to Empty'; close enough. I put a fresh 6 gallons of 91 Octane in the tank and let it course through her veins!

Thanks!... I'm sure you've seen my Photobucket page for the '89. There are some pics of the build process. Sound quality is awful in the videos... it sounds a little better in person!

Did you see Mike's post about the SCT?

Watch that rev-limiter, Bill. Redline comes up quicker in every gear.

Did you hit that mark, yet? Scary the first time the engine just shuts off on you.

I wonder where Doug sets the limiter at?

Or maybe he left it at stock?

Rev it up as you watch the tach (under a load like when driving in 2nd gear) until the engine shuts off... then you'll know! Like you told me a long time ago... that's how the aggessive rev-limiter works and it won't hurt a thing...

I think I'll just stay within the yellow-red range of the tach!

Doesn't appear to be as low as the CDC Classic, so I guess it'll be more 'driveway friendly'.

That did bother me, though... one of the reasons I took them back off. I tried putting them in the sun so they would be softer and conform to the scoop shape, but it didn't work. Bill's right, though... it's not really that bad. Maybe if you try putting the emblem slightly back farther on the scoop? It might be a little flatter.
