Neither one of my cam covers go to the intake. Both are just open vents with little filters on the end (which are both covered by the Shaker engine cover). The passenger side filter was turning colors from oil, so I put an inline PCV before the filter. That way it can vent like it needs to, but is unable to blow out oil.

Both places where they used to go on the intake are capped.

The only reason these go to the intake in the first place is for emissions. So, unless you are a tree-hugger, it doesn't matter. And, if any of us were tree-huggers, we wouldn't be driving such high carbon-monoxide polluting vehicles in the first place.

New Q for the Toms (Tom 2, still need that last Q answered too)...

Any reason why you guys aren't running high performance COPs (ie. MSD Blaster)?

Because they're only for looks.

Bill, I have talked to Brent and Dave about a separator, and the input I received is to evaluate your own car based upon what you see... meaning, if you inspect your intake, t-body, and delete plate area and see alot of build-up, then install the separator. If you don't see it, then save your money. Albeit, the cost is little.... but still, if you don't need it, then you don't need it. It seems like for some people it has become one of those things where a few people have needed it, so then everyone else follows suit regardless.

Regarding the COP's, unless you're running 12+psi, you don't need them. And even if you do, most aftermarket COPs have proven to be unreliable. I would rather depend on proper and accurate plug gapping more so than aftermarket COPs.

Based on what I said above, why even hook the cam covers to the intake? There's no point... it doesn't do anything. Put them to open air and let them breath like on the old cars. Then you never have to worry about getting oil into the intake or, worse, into the mass air meter. Then, if needed, use an inline PCV to eliminate blow-by.

In this picture, the hose running to the intake is fake. It's just for looks. It has a bolt in the end of the tube behind the Shaker cover. This is supposed to run over to the passenger side cam cover, which now has an inline PCV and filter:

+1 on the COP's... that's what I was told... only over 12psi.

I would think the problem with putting them to open air, is that what ever can get out can probably also get in. If you put a filter on there, then yes you'd be covered. Old cars have a tiny filter, that would work.

I added a pic above after you posted.

Yes, I got two K&N-type filters at Auto Zone that go over the stock tubes that come out of the cam covers. I think each filter was around $8. Works perfectly.

Toms: Thanks for the input.

As of now, doesn't look like I need either; no gunk build up that I can see and I'll be well under 12 psi.

It's when you have boost that you might get blow-by and start seeing the oil where you don't want it.

On the cosmetic side of the house..

I ditched the Adam's switch over that I was thinking about and just ordered some more Zaino.

Z-2 PRO Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes
Z-6 Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray

I was out of Z-2 and getting close with the Z-6.

Ordered a t-shirt too while I was at it.

Seriously, though... you'll want to check again after driving with the S/C.
