Looks like we will fly into San Diego Friday, October 12th and get in about 9 pm... spend 2 days in San Diego, Drive to LA Sunday night, stay in Long Beach Sunday night on the Queen Mary, then drive to Big Bear Lake Resort Monday night, Drive to Las Vegas Tuesday Morning, work the show Tuesday afternoon thru Wednesday night, stay Thursday and travel home Friday morning.
The wife really wants to go to the San Diego Zoo so that is a must do, other than that things are open and maybe I can get together with some of the So Cal bunch here. It'd be great to see the cars and meet ya'll all if possible.
Maybe you can help me out Leo as I am not too familiar with San Diego. Is there anywhere’s you wouldn't stay in the San Diego area?
I'm iffy on the dates right now. We, my family, usually take a week vacation up to Pismo Beach and it's usually the middle of October or there abouts.

If not I'm totally up for hooking up in SD at the show then over to the Queen Mary area.

Bill Great news about the DS. Can't wait for the write-up and results !

Not like it's real dirty up underneath there. Now what you should do is some burnouts, then go to the show.. maybe coupla donuts in some grassy or muddy field.. you know go nutz for once. Whatever you do just show up at the show, who cares what your car looks like

Me too.... I love it, as it allows me to ROTATE the tires = 2x the mileage

I went from 17's with 235's to 18's with 255's, so it was a big difference for my car.

Attachment 30431 Attachment 30432

Anything bigger than 18's look too big unless you get the big brakes to match. The calipers and rotors look puny through the openings in 20's.

My car with the same rims in the 20" version when I borrowed them to see how they would look:

Attachment 30433 Attachment 30434 See tiny calipers in the back.

Every see those pics, Kyle??

I'm glad I went with the 18" non-DD version.

Like the gears, I'm going BIG!
I was told that size didn't matter!

Wow, those really made the calipers look minuscule. I think you definitely made the right choice in not going with the 20s then. I never did see those pics until now.

Why didn't you go with the DDs?

I never liked them. I'm not really sure why, though.

After seeing both Daves' cars, I can't help but like them. Hopefully by the end of this year I can get some DD GT replicas.

This is definitely a "matter of opinion" area. After seeing the Dave cars, it reinforces why I don't like DD's.

There is no right or wrong.

Anything other than a stock spoiler is wrong, though.

Liking anything other than the stock spoiler makes you gay.

I guess a black stock spoiler is OK then, right?

FYI Sunday Oct 14 is the San Diego Mustangs Club car show "Mustangs at the bay". Bill's supposed to be coming down for that show and maybe the rest of the Socal guys will come down. Worst case scenario I'll be the only one there so make sure to stop by.
Thanks, and the Mustang show sounds like a winner as well... Even the wife thought it was a good idea as well.

Not really, the trick is not to lay down a hard routine and give plenty of time for exploration. It would be nice to chill in one spot for a while, but we won't pushing ourselves. Plenty of scenic drivng as well, I do know where go for that.

Sea World is better, doesn't have hills or animal poop.
Thanks for the heads up on the zoo, after I told the wife about what you said she was down with the Sea World idea... I had been there many moons ago and it was nice then.

As luck would have it, I got a UPS damaged unit!!!!!

Container looked fine, opened it, started to closely examine the DS, then I saw it... a ding.

It didn't look or feel too bad. Ding measures 1.5"L x .020/.025D.

I called up Coast Driveline to speak to a Tech/Engineer there and explained to him about the ding. Short answer was 'NO damage allowed on the shaft, period.' He said that the integrity of the DS has been compromised, which I'm guessing is a bad thing.

Good news is the BMR front safety loop looks perfect.

CR will try and expedite a new DS to be drop shipped to me, hopefully by Friday.

Here's some pics. Can you spot the ding?

I'm guessing that's it right above your son's head? I can't really see anything in the close up pics. That sucks Bill.

Totally dissapointed at UPS and their gorilla handlers.

They actually broke my amp when I had it shipped last year. Two of the cooling vents had been broken once I got it. Luckily for me, mine was fixable, even if it did look like crap. Now it's gone though...

Do you guys think I should order my CAI and tune through Doug or Brenspeed? I know Doug is/has been super busy, so I don't know if now would be a good time to try and get it through him. If Brenspeed will do it right, I wouldn't mind going through them, they did me well with my Hurst.

Sucks about the DS. I couldn't agree more that it should be replaced.

Still say you should go nutz on the way to the show, huge burnouts, donuts in the grass/water/mud just have a blast we won't mind.

Kyle,
I'm a big fan of Doug and his tunes. I'm sure Bill, Leo, John, Tom, Daryl and a couple others would agree. His service seems to have slacked but there is a thread explaining what's up and now that he has reliable help I'm sure he'll be back on his game. I have not heard one word contrary to the Brenspeed tunes either. So for me even with all the caveats I'd go with a Doug tune, but I'm biased and glad to be so.
