Here is the 12ga Remington 870 Police Shotgun that the gun shop found for me:

Attachment 24528

New in the box, Remington 870 Police 12ga, with 18” barrel, chambered for 2 3/4" or 3” shells, black matte finish with black synthetic stock, bead front sight, and holds 5 rounds.

Exactly like Bill recommended!

They gave me a HELLUVAH deal! Guess how much for BRAND NEW??

Could have walked out with it today, but they don't stock them... I'll get it in 1 week. He's also going to dismantle a bunch of shells for me and he'll pack them with sand so I can mount them on the rack in the trunk. Then if somebody steals them, I won't feel guilty.

I've grown up listening to Infinity, as my dad uses all infinity speakers for home audio. Also, I've used Infinity and JBL for car audio in previous cars (JBL is owned by the same company as Infinity, which is Harmon-kardon). So, needless to say, I'm heavily biased.

But, that's the problem with speakers: there's a lot of brand loyalty and opinions, so it's hard to gauge a straight answer. Plus, to the untrained/non-caring ear, is one really better than another

In terms of Crutchfield: they're all I use for car audio. Can't beat free shipping, free adapters, and free sheets on how to take apart the car. Plus, their customer service/tech is great.

Alpine here. Never was a fan of Kenwood.

Alpine and Kenwood is like Ford and Chevy, they don't play well together.

Infinity does make good speakers. I ran an Alpine/Infinity combo in my first car.

Did I mention that this was BRAND NEW? Remington 870s go for over $500. They gave me a good deal, but they have to stay in business, too!

The 870 is a run of the mill shotgun. Big 5 always has them on sale for 2-something.
Since yours is more 'tactical' than for target/hunting, my new guess is $375. Hope you didn't pay over 4.

Yeah, the tactical ones are more expensive. Here's a list of some NEW police shotguns:

I'm sure they can be bought for cheaper at pawn shops and local gun shops, but that's just to give an idea of the LE ones compared to the run of the mill ones.

I looked at those, too, but had to stay authentic with a Remington 870. That does look nice, though!

Barrel length on the 590's too long (for a squad car). The 590 looks mean as heck though.. parkerized, heat shield, and all!

Sorry for the mis-direction, but I had to lie and say it was a Remington 870 to see if anybody would call me out on it!

It's actually a Remington 870 Police replica. It's a real shotgun, shoots real shells, and is identical to the real Remington 870. The only way to tell it's any different is to take it apart and see it's made with metric hardware instead of SAE hardware!

Price brand new was $229 (including the background check)... a brand new REAL Remington 870 Police shotgun would have cost double that.

I think it will serve me well for the purpose I'm using it for.

BTW, although it's not comparing apples to apples (you have the kappas and an aftermarket h/u), but how would you describe the bass response from your Kappa's (WITHOUT the sub in the rear).

Do the factory door subs provide adequate bass for "normal" situations. I imagine that it would be the same as what it was before, and that replacing the 6x8's will just result in better highs, with the same bass as before from the door subs.

The guy at crutchfield was telling me that the amps for the 6x8's have a filter on them, therefore no bass should really go to them anyway.

Can you confirm any of this for me???

I think that would be the ultimate accessory to your 89!

I ran the 6x8s in the rear when I still had the Shaker 500, prior to installing the head unit and amps. They did have some bass but not as much as they do now with the aftermarket amps. They highs were very nice almost too loud at times.

The door subs are OK, but not enough for me. I would crank the Shaker up at times and the door subs would distort and not sound good. hat is another reason I went with an aftermarket sub.

Can't confirm this, but it seemed there was bass coming from them just not a tremendous amount.
