heheh...when we make our way to Victoria, my wife usually wants to go to the Red Lobster. It's been a while since I've been there (Victoria), but may be going down there next week for a day with the in-laws. It will depend on whether I want to put the miles on the car.

I've only been there a few times, but I like it. Only times I've been is when I'm on the coast (don't have one here). My nephews and their parents like it so I've started taking them out to eat there since its something everyone likes.

I usually get the bone in ribeye. The little guys always get the Ranger Meal sirloin, medium rare! These boys ain't no pussies for sure, lol.

I like the rocks margaritas with the 1800 kicker test tube shot, or the Patron kicker (prefer the 1800).

I indeed had the bone in ribeye cooked medium which was more like medium rare which is cool because that's the way I wanted it. I know how the cooks are with steaks there. Medium well is medium to them and so forth.

Anyway it was good with my Shiner Bock.

I'm a medium guy myself. I like the bone in ribeye because I like a steak with a bone in it. But TBH the 16 oz ribeye there is a better steak. More tender, to me at least.

I was shocked when the little guys ordered theirs medium rare, odd for little kids. But they get it from their parents, they both order them that way. No surprise really, their dad is a hard core hunter. The boys are 8 and 10 and both have already killed several deer. With a bow no less.

That is extremely odd. Heck I've never even been to a restaurant with anyone else young or old that ever ordered medium rare. My wife won't let your kids eat anything that's red or even pink inside. Understandable for hamburger or chicken of course but poor kids have to eat all their steaks well done

I'm the same way with burgers, they have to be well. I don't eat ground beef that is red. Period. I don't understand that at all. I can understand where the boys get it from their dad, but their mom comes across as a bit snooty to most people, has a Phd and is a teacher, but she gets a steak mid rare too.

I did too. I still eat it with A1, depending on the steak, lol.

I'm gonna cook a ribeye from my meat guy on the grill here in just a bit, lol. No A1 on that prime piece of beef, lol.

A1 and ketchup have always been more of an indicator than a condiment for my family. If someone has to put those on the steak, it means you suck at cooking steak.

I can't stand either one.

Agreed! I so much prefer to cook a steak myself cause it's to my taste preference from fineness and seasoning profile.

Agreed. My uncle (makes great steaks) finds it an insult if people use a1 on his steaks

Yep. And I can't stand a bland steak. Cooked well great steak with no salt or pepper at least. I've had to use A1 on great steaks before because they just had no taste. Or maybe it was just not that great of a steak after all.
Kosher salt and crushed black pepper just a couple minutes before it hits the grill. Really hot grill and 3 minutes a side.

The trick is to let it sit and get to room temp before cooking. Don't cook a cold steak.

No A1 for me. Its kind of bitter. Vinegar maybe? I hate vinegar.

I lightly marinate with a few spurts of Worcester an hour at room temp before grilling, then add only course fresh ground pepper and some diced garlic on the top side. No salt - it dries the meat out. Can add it on the plate if one desires.

Hot charcoal on the weber, 1 1/4" NY's, 4 mins/side = medium rare.
