I will say that a backup battery is necessary if you're going to record 1080p or higher at 60fps or higher. 1440p is fun, but man, it's a resource hog. I did a little 5-minute vid of my dog and it's understandably a huge file, but it sucks the battery too.
Truthfully though, it takes really good quality videos. It'll work. I picked up a clamp mount for various under-car shots, along with a front helmet mount. I am thinking about picking up a mount for the roof of the car as well. I may have to get creative if I try and record myself going at high speeds. Don't want it coming off after the $$$ I spent on it.

Nah, I'm talking about track days and special events. I'm going to the Terlingua event in October and might have the opportunity to see if I can get the car over 200mph. That will likely require some special equipment to keep the camera on the car. Not sure a sticky on the back of the mount is gonna cut it.
I am very much considering using it as a personal monitor inside the car when I drive. I can record in lower resolutions and get more mileage out of the storage/battery, and can transfer any data to my PC or a removable drive to clear it every day.
