How could anyone that calls them self a country music fan not love Waylon Jennings?!?!?! My goodness, the man had a voice that was so rich and pure, that was the epitome of country music. And if you mix Willie in with Waylon on some of theirs, it was just off the charts. Like Good Hearted Woman, that was probably one of the best country songs every written, ever sang, ever laid down on an album!! It just doesn't get much better than that!!!!That is REAL country son!!!!!

I completely agree

Been listening to him a lot lately

I was young in the 70s but it brings back memories of being in the car or at home while my parents listened to it

Did your parents listen to "The Outlaws" when you were a kid? That album that had Waylon, Willie, Jesse Coulter and that other dude, lol? I just about wore that think out on our old record player. It had like an old time mugshot of all of them on the cover?

Edit, this one...

I remember that album cover in their collection

Lots of album covers stood out to me. Like that one of course because it was Outlaws. Also the red headed stranger album and stardust album. The Steve miller band album had a cool cover. The Eagles live looked like a trunk. Any kiss album.

The best part about albums was always the art. I'd sit and stare at it and read it while I lateness to the music in the headphones.

Wife saw your avatar.

"Whose avatar is that? It'd be perfect for Gary. They're probably separated at birth."

"It's Gary's."

"Figures."

She wore a cloak of feathers and rode a mare of purest white,
A silver chalice in her hands, a look of sadness in her eyes.
A thing of beauty to behold, but a sorrow to possess,
She'll take all that you offer until there's nothing left.
Nothing left . .

Oh, when I was young
I was so full of fear
I hid behind anger, held back the tears
It was me against the world
I was sure that I'd win
But the world fought back, punished me for my sins
I felt so alone
So insecure
I blamed you instead, made sure I was heard
And they tried to warn me
Of my evil ways
But I wouldn't hear what they had to say
I was wrong
Self destruction's got me again
I was wrong
I realize now that I was wrong

Pop 90s . . .

When she's saying that she wants only me
Then I wonder why she sleeps with my friends
When she's saying that I'm like a disease
Then I wonder how much more I can spend
Well, I guess I should stick up for myself
But I really think it's better this way
The more you suffer
The more it shows you really care
Right? Yeah, yeah, yeah

I like the way you turn me on
Just like an old Keith Whitley song
I like the way you shake it, work it
Ten out of ten baby you’re perfect

You know the sun is shining on Kentucky
They’re drinking bourbon by the batch
I walk that line because you love me
And I wanna be your Johnny Cash, Johnny Cash

Alan . . .

Hey, baby I love you
Hey, baby I need you
Hey, baby you ain't got to prove to me
You're some kind of macho man
You've wasted so much of your life
Runnin' through the dark nights
Let me shine a little love light
Down on that blues man.

Well, I was thumbin' from Montgomery -
Had my guitar on my back -
When a stranger stopped beside me in an antique Cadillac.
He was dressed like 1950 - half drunk and hollow-eyed.
He said, "It's a long walk to Nashville. Would you like a ride, son?"
I sat down in the front seat. He turned on the radio,
And them sad old songs comin' out of them speakers was solid country gold.
