I thought about putting 8 on my new one, but decided I'd wait until they patched all the holes and cracks for another few years. Besides, 7 really isn't a bad OS. I didn't understand why they introduced 8 when they did. A lot of the things 8 does could have been implemented with 7, and 7 is more stable right now.

So that I can actually use all the hardware to it's full potential.

I know I can find much better for a little more in a 15.6", but I'm looking for 10-11in. Gonna try to swing by a Best Buy and compare sizes in person though to make sure that's what I want.

Ha.

New OS's are much like cars in that new-and-shiny often comes with inconsistent and buggy. Windows 7 is actually quite stable now, and all the little things that are impossible to find/fix before the software has been public for a year or two have been dealt with for the most part. MS wants more money though, which is why they come out with a new, mostly unnecessary update so often just as the previous OS is becoming dependable and comfortable.

Win 7 is now the win xp of the business world. It'll be around for over a decade before start really being phased out

Ha nice. I'm thinking about doing that on my work computer. Or running win 7 on VMware on my personal Mac. I hate windows and I hate my work computer. HP Elitebook. Thing is a tank. And hard drive is slow as hell.

Straight up.
Any geek worth his salt knows Win8 is tha bomb if you know what you are doing.
The only glaring mistake they made is they took the start button/toolbar away and that has all the tech posers gnashing their teeth and flailing their arms because they are lost.

Hotkeys are the secret. try Win+X and see what kind of goodies you have. Plenty of ways to get where you need if you know enough.

As to the OS itself, it absolutely beats 7 hands down in pretty much every benchmark I can find.
I can run more processes more stably and better/faster than ever on THE SAME PC. Quad-core Athlon with 16GB and few TB of storage (booting on SSD) and it rocks quite nicely.
And Hyper-V for free? Get the heck out of here! I used to use VMWare but I can roll three kickin' virtual machines (2012 Server for testing, Exchange Server 2003 same reason, and my old Win7 Desktop maximized across both monitors) and that is on top of Win8.

IMO, the truth is, anyone who thinks 8 is NOT awesome sauce is completely missing the point.
