Ok geeks. Got a question. Just bought the wife a new MacBook Pro. We have a wireless printer that works great with the MacBook. Why can't I use it with the iPad? Is it possible to use with the pad?

Dunno. This is all new to me. First true Mac. Our pc is hard wired. Just figured the MacBook and iPad could do the same thing as far as printing.

Should be able to, think you need to download an app maybe. Haven't been able to set mine up at the house yet, but I was reading up on it some.

Let me know what you find. The kids use the computer for school work and if the iPad could print, they could use that instead of the MacBook.

eh if its a wireless printer, i think it has to support air print for devices such as ipads and phones to print.

im not as familiar with that as i wish.

I bought my dad a new printer not long ago that will print from his phone or whatever. Might just upgrade printers and be done with it.

This is what I found online:

The printer needs to be connected to your home computer network. It can be connected to a wifi modem or to the computer. If it is an airprint supported printer, you should find it when you select a print option in an application. If it is not an airprint supported printer, it may have a software update to allow it to be seen as an airprint printer. If not, then you will need a 3rd party program. I use FingerPrint from collobos.com. I am able to print to my Canon and HP non-airprint printers from both my iPad and my iPhone.

Ill be sure to let you know what I find out

So I just bought a new iPad, 32GB WiFi/4G, it was 10% off so I couldn't pass it up. Think I'm gonna sell my 16GB WiFi one.
