I don't like either one, actually. The '99 concept reminds me of an Intrepid in a bad way.

Well, at least we know what it looks like now. Glad to have it confirmed.
Thing is steve, it may look nice, but they make a Charger out of a 300C. I mean, no matter what you do to it, it will still have the proportions of a 300C. The car may be okay for a full size sedan, but for a sports car? I mean, its way too big IMO.
For me, sports/muscle cars should be more of an athletic size than that.
But, I will reserve some judgement for NAIAS.

Dan,
apparently it is almost dead-on to the production model.
Apparantley a very stunning car, which could be lost in the green color and crease in the page. Plus it is a drawing, it can be off a bit, the proportions not right, etc.
I'll reserve judgement unitl 2006 NAIAS

Definately a valid point. In that respect, they were almost boats back then, and it is definately a boat now. I guess what I mean is, based on the concept, you'd think Dodge would want to come out with a legitimate sports car design for the Charger. I mean, the boat thing was okay back in the day when cars couldn't handle, but now they are introducing the Charger (and calling it such) to compete against the stang and the camaro. Neither of which are boats.

The new charger is not meant to compete against the Mustang, a lot of people have to get past that idea.
This car is the RWD replacement to the Intrepid. Apparenlty the production car is really good looking (unlike that puke green sketch).
Putting "Charger" on a RWD V8 car is ok in my book (albieit it has 4 doors). This is a lot better than Chevy bringing back the Malibu name and tacking on a FWD sedan, or the ugly FWD Impala, or ressurecting the Nova name on a re-badged corolla.

Oh yeah, Chrysler group has already butchered the Charger name,
in the mid to late 70's the Charger was just a re-badged Cordoba (remember, rich Corinthian leather ), then in the early 80's it was a FWD econobox.... and people are criticizing about it being a 4-door RWD with available V8

that is something i would have suggested, a crossfire/slk based Charger...but the LX is gonna definetly be the chassis(for sedan and coupe)
Not to sure about that grille...maybe more like the slingshot grille

The October issue of Road & Track has a different Charger concept chop.
Looks more like something from the Crossfire design family.

Nice take on the dodge grille.

So far the only Charger concept that I like is the one BM did. The HEMI Purple one. Otherwise I dislike them all. Yes I don't like the '99 concept because I hate that front end so much.

That might be the new charger two-door coupe. Now that looks awesome.
Steve, naming it a Charger and claiming the stang isn't your competition seems a bit odd no, even though that is probably the case.
