I worked with the guitar player for the Mandrel's back in the 80's. He always said he would teach me guitar. Never pursued it.
Question - does the SCT (or similar) programmer take care of the throttle lag / dead pedal issues? I thought that you could tweak the program and could make the car feel somewhat like it had a cable to the throttle body.

Chris,
I guess I don't remember if you are running a tune by like Brenspeed or someone else. My Brenspeed tune took care of all thottle issues. If fact my wife thinks my thottle is too edgey feelings for here tastes.

I am all stock right now. I looked into it a couple years ago and I don't recall all the things a tune can / can't do. I don't expect much in the way of hp gains since my engine is (and will likely remain) stock for a while.
What sort of deals can you get on a tuner now? Back in 05 they were a bit salty as I remember (around $375 for just a tuner) Since I made my own ram air for the hood, I doubt I would be interested in a cold air kit.

One thing I don't like and haven't gotten used to is (for example) when I am coming off a highway exit and take it out of gear to coast and then blip the throttle. Nothing. Hit it three more times and then it will start to rev a little. I know the engine management system is "doing what's best" for the engine. But I really miss the throttle cable. I feel like I don't really have control over the engine.

You can find tuners for sale at some pretty decent pricing today in the for sale section. Mostly guys that have sold there cars and don't need them anymore. I have seen them go for as little as $125 that are unlocked. Then buy a tune package from Brenspeed for I think $75.
