Spark Plug Issue

Broke some ceramic off of a broken plug in the head of my 2007 gt, possibly a piece of the ground strap. any ideas on removal?

if i need to pull the head can you do it with the engine in the car?

Vacuum. You'll have to attach a smaller hose to get into the cylinder

This is a known problem. Do a search and you should find all the info on how to remove the plug.

Here is a link to a tool kit used to remove the plug in lieu of pulling the head. It has obviously been sold, but at least it will give you an idea of what you need to remove the plug. I believe Ford also has a kit.

cavero, thanks thats the leading idea. i'll do more searching. good to see i am not the only one having the problem.

SD CALSPCL: thank you for the searches and pointers. I have the piece out, but had a small piece of ceramic crack off into the cylinder, also i think a chunk of the hoop went in too. So i had the tool, used it, but still had an issue.

thats what the removed broken piece looks like.

And you might check with your local tool supplier (Mac, Snap-on). The Mac guy in our area has the tool kit on his truck. I work at a motorcycle shop and he comes by weekly. One day I mentioned something about it to him and he was like, "yeah got the tools on my truck if you break one". I'm gonna venture off and try to change mine sometime soon. 80k mines and stock plugs. Good thing I'm patient.

Yea I broke 1 out of the 8 and had to buy the tool but got the one made by lunsford for 90.00 and worked fine. Couldn't even tell it broke until I was using my magnetic extender to lift it out and it left the groundstrap weldedn

By the way, noticed in your sig you got spintechs, where did you get them?

hey everyone, thanks for the help, i once again reiterate i had the tool already, thats a picture of my actual plug. i ended up using a mixture of different tubes including vaccuum tube, vinyl tubing, mcdonalds straws and stuff. i got all the metal out, the ceramic, and a piece of a straw that fell in, out. it was some owrk but doable. i again say be careful to anyone that is going to do this job. make sure you don't turn the plug too far when using the tsb.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. I would have suggested a magnet for the metal, but I bet it would have stuck to the piston with no chance of ever getting it out.

the pisotn is aluminum. also the ground strap on the spark plug is stainless or inconell or something because it isn't magnetic. it works, i am happy again, now for my pinging issue.
