Ordering out of state
#1
Hey, everybody. Newbie here, but been lurking on the site since I first heard of the '05s. Here's the deal. I'm in the Navy. Currently stationed on the USS ROnald REagan in Virginia. We're leaving to change homeports to San Diego, but won't be there till the end of July. Is there a way that I can pre-order before we leave Virginia, or will I have to wait till we hit Cali? Also, trading in a vehicle(99 Jeep Wrangler Sport). How will this affect the ordering process? Thanks.

Hey Doc, I'm kinda in your situation, I'm over here in the sandbox. First, suggest you go to www.carbuyingtips.com before you trade in that jeep. Read thoroughly!
Next, consider going to the AAFES New Car buying site, http://www.encs.com, I think you can qualify to order through them since you are deploying. Definitely the better deal if you can get in on it. Right now they are doing pre-orders but giving price guarantee based on 2004 model. In a word, the gamble is if you lock in you may get the car at 2004 price, which could be below new 05 MSRP. Can't negotiiate much, but you get local dealer delivery and not much hassle. For a serviceman it's the better option, cause you don't want to deal with Cali Taxes!!
Of course, i don't know if they interpret sea tours as TDY overseas so write them and get an idea.

navydoc, you should drop in and see me sometime, i work at the KFC/Taco Bell/Pizza Hut just inside Gate 4.
If you are going to pre-order around the area, ive already emailed the local dealers about pre-orders, Freedom Ford and Beach Ford were both a little shaky, id go with Kimnach or Cavalier, those two have been the most helpful.

Navy AutoSource for Deployees
Hey NavyDoc,
I work for ENCS and came across your posts about the mustang, i think may be able to help out....
As Darth Stang said- you can use www.encs.com or our sister company www.navyauto.com to get new Mustangs at invoice-based pricing. Right now our current rebate on the Mustang is $2,000 plus a $750 at sea discount. Here's a link to the rebates sheet:
http://www.navyauto.com/uploadedFile...s-01.15.10.pdf
Keep in mind to be eligible for this you have to be in "international" waters. Here is a link to the eligibility page:

Hope this helps!
