The new GTO I'm sure will handle a little better than the new 'Stang, but that's expected given the IRS. The GTO does have a nice exhaust note, but judging from the video's, so does the 'Stang. I'm willing to bet that it will be a driver's race between the two, but when they come out w/ the LS2 and 400 hp (next year I believe?) I don't think that will be the case. They are comparable in just about every aspect except for the exterior and hopefully price :P

All in all the GTO is a nice car...but the styling just doesn't do it for me at all.

I realize that I'm biased but I really think the 05 mustang may kill the "cooler" GTO supposedly coming in 07 or 08 before it ever gets out the gate. I think these cars are essentially aimed at the same market and even if the GTO has a performance advantage I have a hard time believing that many will go for the boring styling of the goat at a $5k-$10k premium over the GT. In fact I'm really curious to see where Pontiac is headed in general right now. Critics are applauding their new "grown-up" styling and shedding all the body cladding but at least on the roads around here it doesn't seem to be translating to sales. IMHO I think Pontiac is alienating their market and is at great risk of blending themselves into GM brand obscurity.
The gto is now selling for $31k in many markets, or about $3k more than a projected 05 stang...................you get tons more refinement with the gto if you can live with boring styling. [/b][/quote]
U get crappy milage.

That should make up for the 3k within a short period of time.

The new mustang I would suspect 19 in city and 26 on highway.

The GTO gets 21 on highway and 16 in city................my mom's explorer is rated at that with a v6.

The GTO is underpowered for the displacement it has. Thus resulting in a poor fuel economy. The four speed doesn't help any or the 400 extra lbs of fat it has.
