It seems to me that if your wife is getting an MDX, then can't you have the best of both worlds? The MDX will give you all the amenities of the TL, while you get the Mustang. I'm sure that if you needed to take clients out on a given day your wife would be happy to "tough it out" in a new Mustang GT while you used the MDX!

TL is a nice car, no doubt, with good solid power delivery (270 horses I think). I've driven it and thought the torque steer was bad, however, especially when accelerating in a corner.

Golfing partner got an '05 TL. He was real enamored with all the "toys" it came with.....for about a month. Then the "play time" kind of wore off. That's not to say they are bad cars. I like them. But, as everyone else has said, torque steer is pretty bad in the TL.

But, you're comparing a "nice" TL, with 4 doors and a bunch of toys to a bonafied, rip snorting muscle car that will tear up the road and put a smile on your face every time you start it up.

Depends on what you want. I'm not in sales, so I don't know if one car is better than the other for a sales person. If your priority is to put people in the back seat for lunches, dinners, etc....then maybe the TL is the right way to go. But, for 2 people, I think clients would be more impressed with the Mustang.

In 01 i bought a new SVT Lightning, i traded it in on a 04 MDX. It was a great suv, more gadgets then i knew what to do with. When the 05 Stang came out, i had to have one. So my girlfriend took the MDX, and i got the Mustang. Worked out great, i still drive the MDX, but no where near as fun as the Mustang.

I wonder how many people saying this have driven the TL for any length of time. Some see FWD and immediately shout "torque steer".

Two people I know have new TLs and I've driven both extensively. They don't compare to the older models when it comes to torque steer. They do have some but it very mild, not extreme. Very controllable.

Well - I went with the TL - the dream is over on the 05 Stang. Went to my ford dealer and picked up my deposit and drove off to the sunset. These cars are both great for various reasons. The TL will be my pony for the next 3 years though. Maybe I revisit the stang in 08.

Good luck to everyone!

I almost bought a TL. I love them. But, I'm 24 and decided I need a sports car for now.
