Thumbs up

I am looking to order a new 2006 Mustang GT.
But I had some questions.

How long is the production time running?
Do dealers rip you off more if you order one over buying one in the lot?
Can you get Ralley strips put on a GT from the factory?
And how much extra is the charge for just Ralley Strips?

I am looking to order a GT Premium (manuel) Yellow with black strips that go over the bumpers.

Any suggestions from people who have ordered and recieved theirs would be greatly appreciated.

Your car is actually manufactured in a day, however once you are serialized, it will take between 5-8weeks before your car is delivered to the dealer.

My experience is that you might get a better deal by ordering, but it might take a long time to get your car because of dealer allocations and how many retail orders are ahead of you. There are some here that have been waiting since Jan. to get serialized.

Rally stripes are not available to order on a GT from the factory.

That is an after market mod.

Try to find a dealer who has a lot of allocations that will get you a car in 2-4 months. There are several on this form that can help you.

Good luck!

I ordered on 8/17 and my car is due anyday. Its already reached its final destination ramp. In my case the order has taken 1 month.

I would have thought that you would get a better deal if you order rather then buy off the lot.

5-8 weeks isn't bad. Ofcourse I would love to drive away with one tomorrow. But I am a patient man and waiting longer would be better, because each month I put more away for a down payment.

I did visti one dealer to discuss the GT, I told him I was looking to buy until Oct or so. I asked him about adding the ralley stripes to the GT and he said it could be done. I just didn't know if he was just saying that to hook me.

You ordered yours 8/17 and are due to receive it soon. That seems fast. I live in the Philly area there are about 6 or 7 Ford dealerships within 30 miles of me. Does it really mean that much for delivery time on what dealer you go to?

Donna you must have the record for the fastest order. You are probably the exception, not the rule. Good for you!

Most dealers will quote 6-8 weeks even if they don't have any allocations. I ordered mine from a friend who owns a high volume dealership, and the best he could do was 2-3 months. The other thing that affects delivery are commodity issues, such as whether your order a vert or a coupe, transmission type, wheel size, and so on.

If you want a car in a hurry, I would try to find one on a lot that a dealer would sell at or slightly below MSRP. There are some dealers out there that would do this kind of deal.

I saved $3000.00 by ordering mine. Here in Oklahoma they are getting sticker, or in some cases more than sticker for gt's sitting on the lot.

Very true. When I ordered they told me 8-10 weeks. The order was pulled the very next day after I ordered and my dealer had allocation. I ordered from a small town dealer about an hour away from me. The same dealer who ordered an 05 for me last year when no one else would take an order. I do feel lucky.

Hey King Cobra, I see you are from the SE area of Pennsylvania. I would love to order you a car, as I am a salesperson at a small dealer in Montgomery County, but I can't guarantee a 2-3 month delivery on GT's. We currently have 8 GT's on order for customers, and one happens to be my own car I'm buying. I won't see mine till April (my choice partly, the other lack of allocation), as we here get 1 GT per month(maybe 2 if we work with the Rep). If you have any questions you are more than welcome to send me a PM, or call me at the store. Even if I can't sell you one, I'll be happy to answer quesitons, and help you out. Thanks and good luck with your order, and welcome to the "waiting game"

Go to Faulkner Ford in Quakertown Pa. off of rt309.SE pa.
I bought my 2006 Stang Gt premium with everything on labor day weekend
Sticker $30,125
Invoice $27,878
Ask for the Salesmanager John and ask him can you get the Next GT that he gets in at INVOICE unless he has one in stock...Don't talk to any salespeople and only the salesmanager....and Don't order one, because some small dealers get 1 a month maybe if they are lucky. And if you are 10 on their list you might never see the car and you will have to reorder a 2007 Stang Gt next june....And yes you can get the stang Way under sticker but you will need to look a bit....Never pay sticker my friend...johnnyT
