Why the heck would you want a canadian stang anyways? I would rather pay the extra just to make sure I had one that read in MPH and not KPH.
Because we are in canada ya moron. eace:

The other thing is negotiate all three parts of the deal separately. Financing, Trade-in and New Car. Dealers can screw you on any of them.

The 05 stang is going to be my second car, and I am lucky enough to be buying it with cash. I am still going to do the three part method mentioned above without telling them that I will not be trading in and that there will not be any financing. I figure that I will find out what they are willing to let the car go for, and compare that one number with other dealers. I think it's sleazy that some dealers try to get that (trade-in, financing) out of you right away, so they can think of how to get more money out of you while they show you the car. [/b][/quote]
So you're gonna waste the salesman's and your time pretending that you are trading in and financing? Just doesn't make any sense to me

RE: ace0215...

I don't know what Birdman meant. (I'll let him speak for himself). What I meant was get prequalified for the best deal you can from a credit union or bank, etc., then go to the dealer. Options are good. Sometimes the dealer has incentives or offers that can easily beat yours (0% interest, etc.), often not or they just use that as a teaser and have all sorts of excuses for why you don't qualify (when you should). I was just setting things up to take the best deal, and many salesmen will negotiate less hard on car and trade-in, if they think they are going to get it back on financing. I was NOT trying to waste the dealer/salemans time (and my own), I was just shopping and having insurance to keep a deal from falling apart late because they couldn't cut a competitive deal in the financing. (And I really dislike the financing department most of all, I'm finishing my MBA and still those putzes can bury things).

The real waste of time would be going through the whole first two stages, then not liking something in the financing, and walking away... and when you come back later, some try to make excuses for why the deal has changed, or you have to go through the game again (they get a second shot at it). Many salesman enjoy the game, I don't. I just want to get it done at one sitting. (In fact, I've made car deals in like a 1/2 hour before, including all the paper signings). I don't want to waste their time, and I certainly don't want them to waste mine -- and I'm looking for a fair deal for both of us. (And if they'll take the deal, then obviously I'm not taking food out of their childrens mouths).

Hey dke...

when i was talking about wasting time...I was refering to birdman when he said he's buying with cash and no trade-in, but he's still going to "negotiate" trade value and financing??? Just didn't make sense to me. wasting the salesman's time and his own.

No problemo. I was just didn't want you, or others, to think I was advocating jerking a salesmans chain, or wasting anyone's time.
