OK folks, Tres let me know the Vert he looked at (Randall Noe Ford Near Dallas) may still be available.

So, do you think it would be crazy to fly from Virginia to Texas to buy a car, and drive it home?
Those are alot of highway miles right out of the box, not sure if I'd go that far.

OK, I have contacted them by e-mail and we'll see what they say. I also have contacts in at dealers near Roanoke, VA and Baltimore, MD.

The Texas car is EXACTLY my ideal Mustang, but the cars at the other two dealers would make me pretty much as happy. The detail differences are color, and in one case, no ICAP. But all three meet the absolute requirements:

•V8
•5-speed manual
•Top goes down

Let's see if I can lock in a car

So, Doulos - anywhere near Baltimore? Any rep on Koons Ford, on Security Boulevard?

Randall Noe wants $2K over sticker, so Texas is off the list.

Yes, I'm in Baltimore...unfortunatly there are not many dealers in Baltimore area with a good reputation. Koons is NOT one of them...Beware.

A couple more have dropped off the list, including Newport, RI - they wanted $40K.

Found a dealer in SC that has 2 - we'll see.

Hey, that's what the car is for.....To Drive, and make you do this: each and every mile of the trip.

Another NoVA dealer said they had one, once-titled with 230 miles. No doubt they bought it from another dealer to get it on the lot. They tried to tell me they paid over sticker for it.

So they're off the list.

Jeff, thanks for helping out - I appreciate it!

I have located a number of GT verts, but either they have an auto tranny - and manual 5-speed is a must for me - or they want crazy markups. Or both, probably.

Maybe I am wrong, but some of these markups have gotta guarantee these cars will be Lot Queens for a while. Greed may have some of these dealers discounting these cars come September.

My local guy is furious that the one he had was slid out from under us. SO I'm keeping the feelers out, and if nothing bites, I'll order a 2006 just the way I like it.
