How many bought their's new and still own it?
I still remember that story like it was yesterday!!! I can't believe it's been nearly TEN YEARS since that happened!!! Wow... I'm getting old...
I remember you posting on here asking if you should keep it anyway since 'Stangs were like unicorns in those days, the answer was a resounding NO!! I wonder who bought yours?

Ahhhh good memories!!!

I remember you, Ragnar(I hadnt read atlas shrugged yet- always wondered where he got the name) Stoenr, a few others were vinned right around the same time...
I did track down old 34068, it went to liberty ford in ohio(unsure which one) for repairs- with documentation of damage, but then was sold a few months later in West Virginia as a factory car- no damage disclosure...my understanding is that the shipper 'owned' the car once they damaged it- but how it got sold out of state with a clean record was 'interesting'...
yeah, the good old days... folks today could never imagine a basic stick GT getting 10 over sticker- but thats what was going on back in mid/late 05...ford simply did too good a job on these cars, and they just could not build enough of them. I had hoped the same thing would happen with the 15, but nah... its a nice car, will do ok, but dont think it will ever have the 'beating down the doors' waiting lines that were the norm in 04-05. Our cars (IMO) just have that 'gotta have it' or 'classic' look- in ten years, these will be the next '69' demand wise. the mustangII was car of the year, but was forgoten soon as the 'new' wore off... I kinda am afraid the 15 might be similar to a lesser degree- like the late great gto, without classic looks, the long term fans in volume just arent there, no matter how great the car is... at least the 15 mustang has nice/unique style, unlike the jellybean gto... time will tell.
it is crazy to think a decade has flown by. at least Kzinti's work was eventually unofficially acknowledged by ford- if it werent for his efforts, 'ford customer service' folks like Deysha, that have helped so many, wouldnt be there... I know for a fact he was responsible for selling three of these cars- seriously, i was so pissed at ford i was ready to go buy ANYTHING else, just because... wouldnt have known what i missed- thanks Kzinti- wherever he and his cohorts wound up

yeah= i had it bad for that car- I wanted it anyway, but they coudnt sell it...good thing, had I bought that car it woulda owned me...I got so fedup, cancelled the order after three days of running around with ford/dealer/shipper...'Kzinti' over at blue oval kinda calmed me down a bit, found a couple identical cars within hauling range- but next day regional called, got another priority one(but no DORA with name on it like first one), promised before Christmas...

Perhaps it's just me, but I feel the new 2015's have a bit more in common with the 69 fastback than the 2005-14's did and here's why..
The new 2015 models have a full sloped fastback profile similar to the 67-70 fastback models along with similar looking 69 tailights..
Where as the 2005-14's have a horizontal decklid that appear to share more in common with the 65-66 fastback models rather than the full fastback of the 69-70 Mustangs..
Other than from the front and rear valance of our 2005-14 models, that's pretty much all I really see they have in common with the 69-70 Mustang..
Otherwise IMHO the 05-14 cars remind me more of the classic 65-66 2+2 fastback than anything else

Tim ! Don't get me wrong because I also feel the same way about the 2005-14 Mustangs as you do, however what I don't quite understand is this, in what ways do you feel the 05-14 models remind you more of the classic 69-70 fastback models over the new 2015 Mustang ?

I like the looks of the 13-14, liked the 10-12 nose better(but still totally dislike the tails) but still love the 05-09 lookswise, second only to the 69... we all have our favorites, but certain cars(about everything from 1969, the 55-57 tbirds and belairs, 68-70 chargers, challengers, cudas, fastback first gen mustangs, first gen camaros, a handful of others) will always be seen as 'classic' looking- I truly think the 05-14 mustangs and the current challengers will be on that list in ten years...while the 15 has a sweet interior, vastly improved drivetrain/suspension, i just see another new car- aston martins, 370Zs other great cars with unique styling will always have a following, I think the 15 mustang will be more of a niche than the more mainstream typical mustangs did- but its just benchracing opinion, nothing more...
perhaps in 10 years the 05-09 will be like the II is regarded these days, and the 15 will exceed the boss429 as the most fabled/desirable ever- but only time will tell. I dont dislike the 15 at all, and I see mustang influences- but I also see corporate influences, asian influences in the outer styling that just seem too far away from the traditional mustang look- but i'm a dinosaur, still think the 69 fastback was the best mustang ever- lookswise- even if a falcon that gained half a ton lurks beneath its rust-prone skin... just think classic looks, subjective as the may be when 'fresh' will always endure the test of time and generations will always see them as 'wow'.

you might be absolutely correct- I dont think the 05-09 looks like a first gen, but something about the whole package 'looks like a mustang' to me a little more than the 10-14, and a lot more than the 15- but thats just to me, only time will tell...

Ford took it's design inspiration from the 65-70 Mustang and not just from one particular model year but rather by taking design elements from each model and then morphing them all together to create what became known as a modern interpretation of the classic 1st generation models in which Ford refers to as retro-futuristic..
Although I totally agree with you about the 05-09 Mustang not looking like the 1st generation cars, however I can honestly say that when I first saw the 2005 back when Ford introduced it as a 2003 concept, I was so blown away by how well executed the designers did with the entire package that it instantly reminded me of the 1st generation 65-70 Mustangs without a doubt..
That's how much I knew that I was going to buy one no matter what it took and although I don't dislike the new 2015's in anyway, they just don't have the same impact nor appeal like the 2005-09 Mustang did to say the very least..
Needless to say, I still love the 2005-09 Mustang lookswise second only to the 67-68 fastback, followed by the 69-70

What I meant to say Tim, is the 05-09 Mustang has influences of the 1st generation 65-70 models, but in no way did Ford attempt to re-copy them in anyway..

And you can be sure of this..I won't ever give up my 2006 GT, just as I'm sure you won't be parting with your 2005-09's either
I'll settle for 99.9% and a tiny bit more any day Tim ! And yes, all those early fastbacks were indeed eye candy and still are to this day..

We're gonna be the last guys on this forum...
Thought I'd chime in here. I ordered my 05 GT in Feb 05 and received it in June 05. I thought it would never be built. But eventually delivery day came. I loved the car but didn't drive it much after a while and it became a garage queen. But I did keep it in like new condition. So in 2010 I sold it to a friend of mine. I regretted doing that for the last five years. It turns out that after he had it for about five years and also did not drive it much I asked him if he was interested in selling it back to me, the original owner. Turns out that I bought it back from him recently with all the original paperwork I had given him (original order, window sticker, build sheet, etc.). The car now has only about 18,000 miles on it and is in showroom condition. It looks like it never left my garage. He also maintained it in pristine condition and had all the proper maintenance done. I'm so happy to have it back and when I saw this thread I thought I'd tell my story. This time my Mustang will not be leaving and I will be driving it more! So I guess you can say that yes I bought my 05 new and still own it.

I was 19 when I got my first brand new 1989 Mustang GT (hatchback), maybe that's what you remember?

THIS. ^^^^^^^^^^
What a great story and a great friend, too!!! Glad to see your Pony came home.
Yes I'm glad she found her way home. And yes that good friend of mine did have others that wanted to buy it but he told me he would only sell it to me, its original owner because he knew how much it meant to me. So it worked out great. He kind of knew that I was missing my Mustang while he owned it.
Mine will be 10 years old in 2 weeks! Best car I have ever owned, by far. Never a problem, everything still works, it's tight, fast, reliable, and awesome! And still a head turner - I literally can't stop anywhere without someone complimenting the car.
This forum was a lifesaver during the longest 3 months of my life, while the car was on order.
I spent hours lurking, learning, and posting. It's just such a great community, and I can't say how much I appreciated it before the car was delivered and after.
Unfortunately, all things come to an end, and so it goes with my Mustang. I actually just posted it for sale on Craigslist.
I still love the car to pieces, and since 1992, my main car has been a Mustang GT (this is my 3rd). But I'm not getting any younger, and felt like I was ready for a new experience, so I decided to jump ship into a BMW M235i 6-speed. I'm still having second thoughts as to whether I should have stayed with Ford and gone for the 2015 S550, but the BMW is on the way and I'm excited about it.
I'll always be a Mustang guy, and will continue to lurk here and on the Mustang6G forums. Just want to say thanks to everyone here for support over the years and wish you all the best!
