Be Careful when Upgrading to Higher Output bulbs We have had some Superduty Truck Customers swapping in the Hotter Bulbs and MELTING the Lamp Housings! FYI!

Wow, do you know what brand/type of bulb they were using? I wonder if it was after extended high beam use? Do the superduty's use a 9008 bulb? This is not good news! I'm sure a new housing is a lot of $$$

Its Been awhile I do not remember what brand or style they were. It's a matter of airspace and heat. I just thought I had better mention it since I had seen this happin more than once. It's the reason I do not stock the UPGRADE Bulbs. Believe me I have poor night Vision so I can appreciate the Need for more light!

I've contacted the vendor to see if this is an issue with the Nokya bulbs. I'll post his response.

I know a lot of people are replacing those 9008s...

Here is the response I received from the vendor of the Nokya bulbs. Interesting read:

Mark,

The Nokya Arctic White H13 bulbs are a Stage I bulbs, which means they
use a stock wattage draw and don't produce a significant heat increase.
Many cheaper aftermarket bulbs use a higher wattage bulb to obtain
increased light output, however Nokya, and all of the aftermarket bulbs
that we carry use a more efficient gas mixture, and a Xenon-Halogen
blend is able to increase light output while drawing stock wattage, and
significantly increasing light output.

As with any aftermarket lamps, it's a good idea to check see how they
react with your system - if you turn them on and check immediately how
the wires a few inches back from the headlights feel you'll know right
away if it's too much for your stock headlight harnesses. I have yet to
hear our H13 customers experiencing melting harnesses or blown fuses -
but if it's something you're concerned about it's a good idea to check
the wires just to have peace of mind.

If you look on just about any web forum, where aftermarket lighting is
mentioned - there's always at least someone who says to stay away and
NEVER purchase aftermarket lighting, because it's too hot for your
system. I can tell you that after selling several thousand Nokya bulbs,
and MTEC bulbs, we have had 2 customers tell us that the headlights
damaged their headlights from overheating - and both were using plastic
aftermarket headlights that are made with much less lower quality than
OEM materials.

Hope that helps!
