Major Differences between GT and V6
Anybody know any specific differences between an 05 V6 and a GT other than the engine? I'm considering a project car in the next couple years... read "new engine, suspension, etc" and just want to know what I'm in for if I go for the V6.
Thanks for any and all info,
Rich

The basic 'core' body is the same. Brakes are bigger on the GT.
I'm not sure if the drive train is different between automatic V6s and automatic GTs.
Does anyone know how different the rear ends are between the GT and the V6?

ext- front bumper, grille, wheels, side skirts, rear bumper
Int- slightly different seats, gauges
mech- everything. Engine &drivetrain, rear axle, brakes, suspension, wiring etc
There are alot of hardware pieces needed before putting some of this stuff on as well. That is basically most of it.

V6 does not
GT has 8.8" rear axle
V6 has 7.5"
Auto trannys are the same btw
1. Size of front brakes GT is bigger (see car and driver article on the v6 for the 70 to zero test)
2. GT has 2 piece drive shaft
3. GT has bigger front sway bar
4. The V6 and GT have a pandhard bar (to locate by rear axle), but v6 is missing a rear sway bar (to allow the chassis to roll easier). (Updated, thanks Rampant)
5. V6 is missing made in American engine, (made in Germany)
6. The front and rear molding is unique
7. The cloth in v6 has the word "MUSTANG" repeating in a pattern, the GT has the pony image repeating in a pattern.
8. The v6 is shorter because of the indention for front plate.
9. Dual exhaust in the GT
10. Traction control and anti-lock brakes standard on GT
11. All transmissions have the same rear gearing except the GT manual
12. The V6 has the way cooler rear badge with the pony and cleaner look without and side badge.
13. GT has fog lights and GT side badge
14. GT has bigger wheels
15. You can delete the spoiler in the GT (we should get some money back) or pay extra for one in the V6
16. Last but not least the 300 HP 3 value per cylinder aluminum engine vs. the 210 HP 2 value per cylinder iron v6
2. GT has 2 piece drive shaft
3. GT has bigger front sway bar

^ I am pretty sure the V6 has a pandhard bar (to locate the rear axle), but not a rear sway bar (to allow the chassis to roll easier).
As long as we are counting differences, don't forget the springs and dampers (and I wouldn't be surprised to see different bushings).
So, as stated above that makes pretty much all major components -- engine, transmission (MT), driveshaft, springs/dampers, sway bars, brakes, entire rear end (diff, gears and axles), wheels and tires.
If you are planning on going all the way (6 speed, new engine, new rear end, etc), then start with the V6. But with all the improvements in the GT for relatively little money, it might be easier and cheaper to start with that.
