Dyno your auto against my stick
For what it's worth, I found a forum containing a dyno of an '05 GT auto. 240HP at the wheels. The test was part of a write-up on the Magnaflow full cat-back system (not the axle-back). It's an interesting read.

Bump,
I can't unfortunately afford the GT so I'll be happy with a V6 manual if they ever come out, but with all the people on this site that are getting the GT with auto, I can't believe there isn't anyone who wants to do this comparison.
They all say it's just as fast as a manual with the new 5sp auto, but maybe they feel they won't measure up when it comes to the dyno?
Who knows, maybe this will rile some GT auto owners up.....
SixtySix, I think you will have to go to LA to finally settle this....

Offer is still open. Any two '05 GT owners --- one stick, one auto. I'll pay to get your cars dyno'd at Coastal Performance in Tampa.

I don't think one auto vs. one manual is going to solve anything here. Like most of us know, all cars come from the factory with slightly differnt HP. And I'm sure slightly different transmissions. They aren't all going to run the exact same. I have heard that two of the same exact cars (with same engine and tranny) can come off the line with a difference of 5-10 HP at the wheels. So, if we have a standard vs. auto dyno, and the auto actually comes out slightly better or tied with the stick, what does that tell us? Nothing really. That could be one of the better engines/transmissions vs. one of the worst. The only proof we have right now is at the tracks... the Mustangs that have track times on a quarter mile track. And the auto's have been averaging a few tenths faster ET, but at a couple MPH slower. So, chances are if a stock auto GT is up against a stock manual at a light in the city, the auto's gonna win IMO. Because you aren't gonna get up over a hundred where the manual will begin to take the lead. Unless the driver of the stick is really good. Either way, it's gonna be close. I personally had to get the auto, because my wife refuses to learn how to drive a stick, and she will be driving the car 30% of the time in the near future. But, what I can say is I am extremely impressed with the auto tranny. And if this competition is ever done between the two transmisions... if one comes out slightly better than the other, it tells us absolutely nothing. Except of course that one particular car has 3 or 4 more HP than the other. But in that case, if the stick comes out on top, it's all about the driver at that point. Because you have to be pretty darn good of a driver to use that extra 3 or 4 HP the right way to beat the auto.
