Oman Stang, Ford could have packaged a rear transaxle (ala Corvette) and still kept the 2+2 layout. Porsche did that with the 928-S4. However, that would have also required an IRS and further increased the cost. The benefit of an improved weight distibution would not be noticed by most Mustang owners.
Gotcha... I do like that solid rear axle so it would be a tough choice if it were an option... You're right though, most won't notice, some won't care, and others will be upset that the good old solid axle is no longer there. You should hear the uproar every time Jeep releases a new vehicle without a solid front axle

With the aluminum hood and aluminum block I think Ford's already done a champion effort to balance out that weight distribution...

All of the items that the designers were pushing for would have been great additions to the '05, except the 20" wheels. The 18" wheels on the '06 are a good addition.

I would have really liked an integrated antenna. I hate the 80's style antenna on mine.

Body colored mirrors would have been great, but the soon to be available inserts on the "Project Car" are a nice option.

Having more high quality materials in the interior, and leather around the ip would have been nice also.

Overall, its a great car, but I would have paid extra money for the aforementioned items.
