No, he graciously sent them to me. I'm going to email him a link to this thread; maybe he can jump in and answer some questions. Here's what I asked:

ME: I have a Tungsten 2006 GT Convertible I'm modifying. From the designer's standpoint, what features/design queues didn't make it to production that you had wanted, that I could incorporate in my car?

SID: Most of the features that the design team wanted have to do with proportional features mostly in the sheetmetal - a better highlight here, a crisper section there; the usual stuff that gets watered down due to production and stamping limitations etc...

Some content we wanted were:
  • no spoiler on GT (we pushed the spoiler delete option on marketing)
  • side marker repeaters incorporated into the horses on the fenders (see BMW Z8)
  • slingshot backlight (see 911, TT, 65 fastback)
  • standard 19"F, 20"R wheels on GT
  • sequential signal taillights
  • integrated antenna
  • CHMSL built into backlight
  • body colored mirrors
  • soft IP
  • soft door substrates
  • leather wrap on GT IP
  • MyColor Technolgy should change all the lights on the interior not just the cluster
Overall, it's always a balance to design a car and make compromises to get it at the right price point. Nevertheless I'm proud of the work our whole team did (and continues to do).

Good luck with your convertible - I spent months working on that Z fold mechanism....

The rear shot of the blue Shelby looks good, but the rest are awful. (if I could find the smiley that was throwing up, it would have described them better)

I do have to thank him (and his team) for the spoiler delete option, but at same time thank the bean counters for not putting 20" rims on the GT. Man what a mistake that would have been.

BTW. What's a slingshot backlight?

It's always a work-in-progress. The first sketches Sid did were in 1999!

Very cool...love these kind of things...Nice to see they wanted spoiler delete and body colored mirrors...Good sence of humor via pic #7...Pics 1,2,3 really seem to show the influence of the now defunk cougar...

Brad when you say reskin, does this mean all new or only mild changes?

Thanks Brad, I love the concept sketches!

Note how the rear window treatment changed from concept ("U") to production (square). J Mays hated to see that design feature dropped from what I have read.

sweeeet... i love this kind of stuff. I'd say picture number 6 is my favourite here. I wish the tail coulda ended up like that, its a lot sleeky. I"ve always found the tail of the 05 to be chunky.

I definitely see the Cougar influence too, on pic number 3 for sure.

Very cool drawings.

Loving the Drunken-Gonuts cup on the interior shot.

My fire extinguisher is mounted in the same spot, under the glove box.

Love that blue one, even tho it reminds me of a Cramaro.

Thanks Brad and Thanks Sid!

I think these are my favorites, but I think all are pretty darn cool!

Wonder what a full rendering would have looked like with the front and rear below?

I love to see the transition from start to finish and being a constant work in progress.

I'm sure they'll use the same idea's to evolve the look that we have now.

Can't wait to see whats coming next

Great job Sid, Seems left to his own device, he would have put out the mustang that many wanted. What we got however ,is a great car at a very affordable price. Way to go, SID AND FORD
