Believe me sharp...if anyone treated you a bit rudely, well, I'm guessing that a tiny part of it is that a lot of us are pretty bummed that we can't get stripes from the factory. I was hoping for white stripes down the center of my torch red gt.

But c'est la vie. or que sera sera. Spreichen si deutsch? Aloha?

Sorry you got chewed.

I think the stripes will end up on the car, because I feel there must be some options coming down the road to justify having the two trim models. The GT can be had in all the same ways with either trim package, which leads me to think that there are more things to come which will be exclusive to the "premier" level of car. These things could be the 18s, the stripes, suspension upgrade package, etc...

Also, I just thought of this, someone else mentioned that, what if Ford made the SE that is debuting in "march," actually an anniversary model or something... This is a total possibility. No one ever said the SE would be a model from ford's past. The Bullitt wasn't. The anniversaries weren't. The only one that was, was the Mach 1.

Also, just thought about this too. The Ford rep said he didnt know what the model was that they were working on... There is no way he didnt know. He would definately know the difference between an anniversary model, a mach, a boss, etc. They all have such telltale signs of their identity. This leads me to think the SE will be an appearance package, anniversary package or something along those lines... If he was unclear to what he was making, we can rule out that it had a shaker, since this would make it a mach, it wouldn't have a lot of the extra ammenities since this would make it a boss (as the boss was a light-weight racer), etc....

I'm expecting a "Shelby" model at most, which I think is still a bit of a stretch going by the given info. Granted, he could have been lying to hide his knowledge, but I don't think he would have phrased it like he did. He wouldn't have said that it was up to marketing. This would make this guy the most ignorant Mustang designer in history if he didnt know that such things as the shaker or otherwise denote special models....

Very good points. Personally, I'm holding out for the Shelby (If I can).

V10, are YOU 351CJ then?

351CJ on stangnet recounted the EXACT same story so I figured it was one of you two.

Ford has said no stripes in 05 (at NAIAS I believe)
However, that doesn't say anything about 06.

That would be me.

I swore I would not get involved in another internet Forum, but I followed a link to TheMustangSource. Then I started reading the forums and couldn't stop myself from throwing my 2 cents into a V8 vs. V10 arguement that was going on here. V10 seemed like the perfect handle.

After I found TMS, I lost interest in StangNet because it seems that half the people on StangNet either want to start a fight or start a thread saying how the '05 Stang sucks. But I kept getting sucked into the arguments trying to correct all the mis-information over there.

I posted my "interview" on The Mustang Source, because I knew that if I put it up on StangNet all I would get was 30 replies calling it BS. After seeing the 05 and talking the Ford engineer, I couldn't stop myself from going back to StangNet to once again try to set some of those StangNetters straight. Besides StangNet had become boring since Ron Jeremy dissappeared.

Fourth of July resolution, don't get involved win anymore StangNet arguements. :bang:

All I could think about how crappy the video was of the test mule revving and I wanted something better with the microphone on the exhaust pipe.
Sorry it didn't meet your approval.

Considering the GTR's Debut in New York, and it's Obvious Boss Inspired Styling Cues, I'm Seriously Expecting a Boss to be the New SE. Besides I heard Rumors When they released the Mach 1 (Granted Rumors Spread Like Wildfire) That the Next SE after the Mach 1, was going to be a Boss.

If they make a boss will it be from Shinoda or Ford? I've heard things about name ownership.

Best thread ever!

Dustin, thank you. That seems inadequate but it's the best I can do.

I was wondering, both Dustin and V10 said the shift linkage was rubbery and didn't feel right. Do you think this will change before production?? The 1st mod most guys make is getting a Steeda tri-ax shifter. Do you think this car will need it?? And will the warranty still be in force if you put one in?? One Ford dealer said yes and another said NO it would void the warranty. What do you guys think??

This is the answer V10 got from the Ford manager when he asked that question.

That shift lever feels like rubber. Is that the final choice? (manual trannie)
WM - Oh no, this is an early car. We've been working on the shifting, I think we've gone through 5 iterations since this car was built.

I remember you very well from your many posts on various messageboards. I believe you posted on BON also no?

Did you use the 351CJ handle before themustangsource.com crashed?

The user ID seems VERY familiar to me.

No, I joined TheMustangSource after it came back from the dead. You probably know the 351CJ handle from BON. I originally found TheMustangSource from a link that one of the 3 Musketeers (Dan - Boomer - Brad ) put on BON.

I just picked the V10 handle because my first post was when I jumped in the middle of a V8 vs V10 arguement.

Also the 351CJ is sort of obsolete since I sold my last "classic" Ford that had a 351 Cleveland in it (the somewhat unknown 351 Cobra Jet engine). I actually had several cars with 351 Clevelands in them over the years to that's where the 351CJ handle came from.

I suspect that there will be a healthy business in aftermarket shifters for the 05. Usually the primary goal from the factory is to make sure the shifter does not transmit any transmission noise or vibration. Almost always this ends up with a shifter that feels less precise than what most of us want.
