If you like the thread so much, sticky it! Where the heck is Brad anyway?
Well the first 8 seconds is watching the old guy trying to figure out how to start the car and somebody who I think is V10 telling the guy he has to push the clutch in to start it. You'd think at 60+ you'd know how to start a stick shift car. If there was no starter safety on this car a lot of people would have been hurt and my video would have been confiscated as evidence in a wrongful death suit. Another 10 seconds or so after it ends is just idling.
I guess it's better than nothing. I should have taken more. The camera I used is new to me and I was worried how much space I had left on my 256 meg card. I would have taken more video otherwise.
I almost never would have gotten that video if I didn't ask the Ford guy to have someone start it for me so I could record it. All I could think about how crappy the video was of the test mule revving and I wanted something better with the microphone on the exhaust pipe. I was getting ready to leave and I thought of it.
Good thing I remembered?
My hats off to that Ford engineer, he was awesome to interview and he let me have a lot of liberties with the car. I forget the guy's name. I think it was Mark or something. V10 do you remember?
This was the guy:

Anyway after I took the infamous video I thoroughly thanked him for all his time and knowledge. He asked me if I was buying one and I said yes, one exactly like we were looking at, color and options. I said I wanted to thank him ahead of time when I buy one in March and lay a fresh patch of rubber on the road, I was going to think of him. It was neat listening to him talk about all the development and design work that he did on the car like it was ancient history when it's all new to us. He didn't have the slightest clue i was going to post all this stuff on the net. He loved telling us all those stories. I'm sure he had to be tight lipped about it for years while it was in development and it's good to get it off your chest to someone that is eager to listen.
Before I left I had him autograph my poster, which they were giving away free. I took 2. The one he signed is framed hanging on the wall in front of me right now and the other is hung up in my cube at work. Lots of people at work like it.

It's funny the contrast in V10's interview and Dustin's interview.
V10 was secretive about the Ford representative, let's call him "MW", and Dustin said "oh his name is Mark...here's his photo. etc."
*I love this thread, and BTW Oldie Olsen shoulda reved more!*

In addition, we did not tell him we would be posting all this information on the internet, so I thought that best judgement would be to not reveal his identity.
He did reveal a lot of information that I have not seen anywhere else so it is possible that he told us something (like SE in March 05) that he wasn't supposed to reveal at this time.
But since Dustin has posted a photo of him, his name is Mike Williams.
Congratulations Mike! Whether you wanted to be one or not, you're now a celebrity!
Thanks a bunch guys.
As to the "SE"
I wouldn't be suprised if its just an appearance package..
Like the 35th, 40th, Fords 100th Anniversary.
Not trying to bring anyone down, just trying to be realistic.

someone please tell me dave can answer his email on the road so i can get a look at the 05. I hadn't heard about the tour and they were here in orlando two days and i missed it. I hope to catch them on the way back down. Just out of curiosity is the 05 trailered or driven because I assume its a test car from the Ft. Lauderdale testing facility

Ford is such a cheap-o with their 2 out of 3 brake lights on each side . . . . looks broken from the factory . . . bean countin' jerks

The sequential turn signal kit I installed on my 01 vert makes use of all three brake lights. Hope I can use it in my 05 gt.

The only thing that you'd have to find out, is if its using the same style flasher unit.
(i'm sure they will, but I'd want to double check)
This is one mod I'll do within the first week of having the car!

For some reason I wanted to think that the 2005's had sequential turn signals already.

I hacked my '99 GT to use all three lights . . . what really ticked me off about it was that Ford had a two-way bulb and socket in there anyway . . . I just had to put a blade in the socket and run about 1 ft. of wire to the socket next to it. Now how much did they save for what would end up being less than 1 ft. of wire and a little metal contact?????? cost reduction analysis :P
EDIT: did any of the older tri-bar-light Mustangs not use all three? (older than '79)

Great Job Dustin!
Was there any mention of a strip option. I like the strips on the one at the Detroit Auto Show.

Hey Boomer...I think you're the one that convinced me to go with that mod (over on stangnet) back in April?!?
Yes I have read the order guide. Just because It doesn't list it NOW, doesn't mean they won't offer it down the road. I just thought sense dustindu4 found out information on other things NOT in the order guide, he might have heard something on this. The point of this form is to post information, and ask/answer questions. Excuse me for giving a guy a complement and asking a question you might not agree with.
