I was Gleaning for some New 07 Info and Stumbled on to this Juicy tidbit! This is all I have at the moment. The 08 Mustang will offer The 4.6L DOHC Engine as Used in the Current Lincoln Aviator. This Engine in the Lincoln Boasts 302hp and 300ft lbs of torque. I would think it's output would be increased in the Stang!

Expect something like this!
Enjoy!

that will not be on the 07 stang. I just came back from the ford inovation drive this morning in TX and showed the picture to a Ford program manger who was the INSIDER. he was very careful to what he said as far as future products. He did said this is old product. he said there will be a 07 ground effect package for California - no power increase. He said that Ford will offer the Paxton Supercharged v6. And the soon to be released Shelby will have "north of 450 RWHP" I also aske dhim if he noticed the paint quality issues & he said yep. Also the Shelby will have 18's all the way around not 18 & 19 like the concept car.

I find it odd that Ford would Add this Listing to the Online cataloging Just RECENTLY if this is OLD Information. He may not be at liberty to say if this engine will be Used or Not. Ford Probably did not realize this info was getting out to the Public via the Online parts cataloging. I hope they do not Stop Putting this info out early now that they know. That engine was referenced in 15-20 different sections BTW. The Online Parts Cataloging which is THE LATEST and GREATEST as Far as Current Parts info is My Source of Information. I merely Interpret and Report what I find. Time Will Tell.
I would love to see 6 or 8 motor choices for the mustang from N/A 4.0 v6, to S/C 5.4, but I wouldn't hold my breath for all at one time. That would lead to production numbers of some motors to be too low to be profitable. I'm guessing a series of SE's not counting SVT. One every year of so. The first apparently would be the 4 valve 4.6, the the next either a 5.4 or maybe S/C 4.6. They could mix and match every so often to stay competitive with any newcomers. While this is going on I'll continue to slowly mod mine and hopefully keep up. Then maybe find a Shelby to add to mine.

Why do you love th 5.0 engine? I could never understand the love affair people have with that engine when a smaller 4.6 puts out more power.

I'm trying to destroy it, as I was planning on buying a '07 GT, and if something better is coming down the pipeline I'd have to wait.

People have this facination with the 5-OH
They feel that ANY 5-OH (sorry... 4.9x - 302ci)
Round up if you WANT..it was marketing...
But the aftermarket is SO swamped with parts for that engine, and it responds really well...
I STILL get people asking me if my car is a 5-0.
HELLO...THEY HAVEN'T USED THAT MOTOR FOR 10 YEARS....
"I'd rather have a 5-oh!"
me - "I'll take the 5.4 myself"
Mind you compare the looks of the 302 to the 281...
And you'd SWEAR that they are reveresed.
The 302 pushrod look like you can pick it up with your hands its so tiny....

I also like the 5.0 (302). I can't help but think what it could have evolved into had Ford continued to develop it along the lines similar to GM's LS 6 engines - (aluminum block, heads, etc.). Also, its relatively compact size, simplicity, and parts availability make it easy to hop-up. I'm sure DCX didn't go back to pushrods (modern HEMI) for nothing... However, I do think Ford has done a good job with the mod motors as far as hp/displacement is concerned.

Amen to that. 200 less lbs of iron plow over the front wheels would suit me just fine...!

The difference in weight between the 4.6L aluminum block and iron block is only ~80 lb.
Given that the 5.4 block is essentually the same other than the 1.1" higher deck height, I'd say the weight savings for an aluminum block 5.4 is going to be less than 100 lb vs an iron block.
On the other hand, a pair of 4V heads adds 70lb total engine weight over the 3V heads.
