More Hp than torque? Isn't the current engine rated at 300 hp and 320 lbs of tq? I'm not expert on engines but it sounds weaker than the current engine.
I second this.

Why is this "new" engine an improvement?

That's interesting. That engine is superior to the current 3V since it has the variable runner intake a la FR500, not to mention more valve area with the same cubes. I would venture to guess that they could easily reach 325hp with this engine for the Mustang, and it would likely have a broader power curve than the 3V.

That said, I still like the compactness of the 3V, along with VCT.

John, wait till 2009
I don't know if I like this comment. It makes me think you know of something coming in 2009 that I might need to know about now.

yeah, i agree it seems kind of dumb for ford to spend all that R&D for the 3V only to replace it in 08. must be for an SE and it wont have 302 HP i would expect 350-375 atleast maybe an even 400 to bridge the gap between the GT and cobra

Great find but it doesn't add up......... I don't see them using the 4 valve for the GT. Maybe in an SE but that's the only possibility IMO. Maybe it'll be blown as well?

But there is NO WAY IMO that Ford will ditch the 3 valve for the GT. :nono:

Dano, I agree... the 3V motor will live in the GT.

I will bet that the 4V motor will be for a special edition and we will be able to get a few HP more out of it. I will bet that there is at least another 30-40hp available in that motor over the 302 rating.

Could we be so lucky that maybe Ford will give us a second V8 to chose from as an option for the GT? And maybe also make that same engine standard in a special edition? I'm sure that's asking for way too much. But it's a cool though though, isn't it?

And now, back to reality....

Did anyone else notice the "with Mach 1 appearance Group" at the top of the image?

Probably because that catalog page is from 2001-2004, and is the engine in the previous Mach 1's.

Likely the information he found doesn't have a corresponding picture of what the updated engine would be, hence, he is giving a reference picture of what the engine is that would be going into the car with already present catalog material.

I wouldn't worry about his credibility.

I'm trying to destroy it, as I was planning on buying a '07 GT, and if something better is coming down the pipeline I'd have to wait.

I cross referenced for S/C I could find no evidence. I belive it will be a Special Edition Option. I was thinking about an 07 But now I will leave my options open until further 08 Info surfaces.

I agree, I think we'll see a lower level SE for 08. I'd say Mach 1 or Boss with 330hp or so. And I'm not see a SC for this SE either like the last Mach 1.

The 3V heads were developed for the F150. Truck sales paid for R&D most likely.

Look at the bottom one 5.4L DOHC ALUM in a Mustang.

Probably a typo and the date corresponds to the Shelby. Maybe SVT has a trick up their sleeve.

BTW Mach 1s were underrated
